Dogs in urgent need in Mount Pleasant, MI

I received an email from Adopt-A-Pet in Isabella County this evening asking for help. The animal control is going to PTS these dogs on Thursday. Until late last year this was practically a no-kill shelter. A-a-P has never emailed me before for this type of thing so i feel their plea is more urgent than usual. I thought i would help by cross-posting here. Please cross post where you can.

"Hi, there are several dogs on the go down list for this Thursday. Perhaps you can help and spread the word. #1 Sparky, #18 Ebony, #26 Charm who is old but a real sweetheart of a girl. #25 Turk is also at risk and #27 Darma who is a very friendly girl.

kennel 26, "Charm" shep mix, 10 yrs. F, walks good on leash (I've had a soft spot for this one since she arrived there.)

As of noon on Wed. NONE of the dogs were saved.

Well, there is sort of some good news.

The dogs on death row have been given some more time.

Another rescue came for some other dogs. It made room. (As much as some other rescues begged them to take a couple on death row, they refused to take even one. *sigh* At least it borrowed some time for them.)

June 2, 2007: Received this update last night: "Hi, just wanted to let you know that Sparky and Darma were adopted today, as well as other dogs like Bunny, Darby and chi mix in #19. Thank you for putting the word out. I am just thankful they decided to not euthenize anyone on Thursday, that made it possible for happy endings, for this week anyway."

Figure I might as well use a thread already started for this stuff. I've decided to start posting the dogs on the Urgent list at ICAC when i'm alerted to them.

Sheba kennel 15, adult lab mix, Female


Quincy kennel 16, lab, 4 yrs. Male, very nice dog "He is a nice friendly boy who has a permanently injured leg so has special needs."

Duke kennel 11, shep mix, 7 yrs. Male, neutered, very smart, walks well. "Duke is a 1 yr. old M, neutered, shep-maybe husky mix. He has husky type fur and was previously an outside dog."

I really find Duke's non-Petfinder photo more endearing. (But i prefer posting thumbnails and the other page only has large photos.) (I also don't know why there's the discrepancy in his age between the two pages.)
