Emerson is not well at all :( -- updated at bottom. :(

I know I haven't posted about this, so I will give a little bit of background. Back, starting the beginning of February, we noticed that Emerson was taking a while to pee. he would go for a long time, run around and sniff, and come back and pee for another long time. But we didn't think a whole heck of a lot about it, and we were preoccupied because the baby was here, and finally at the beginning of March, we REALLY started to notice that he had a problem. We took him to the vet on March 15, and they did all battery of tests, all of which came out negative. However, they started him on an antibiotic (I don't remember which one) and he did a 20 day course of them with no improvement. After that course, they ran a second course of antibiotics, and he has only 5 doses left. His pee situation has way improved, he is only peeing for about 20 seconds and he is done.

Starting Friday night, he was eating slower and slower, and Saturday morning refused to eat anything at all. He ended up puking a whole lot up (it looked like at least 3 meals worth plus a carrot that we gave to him at noontime on Friday. Sorry TMI?) and ever since then, he refuses to eat at all. I even tried offering him peanut butter, and he just turned his nose up at it. And he is acting all off too. He won't even wag his tail, kisses are a thing of the past, and all he does is lay around and act so sad.

I am waiting until 9:00 to call the vet. I have a first morning urine sample to take to them, and I am so hoping that they can see us first thing this morning.

My heart is breaking seenig him so sad, and not eating anything. I hope they figure out what is wrong with him, and get him to eat!

Anna, I'm so sorry that Emerson isn't well. I'm glad you're getting him right in to see the vet. Hopefully, they will be able to tell what is going on with him, quickly, and get him to feeling better. Emerson and you will be in my prayers.

Could it be his kidneys? Sounds a lot like Micki when he was going through kidney failure last summer :/ Abnormal peeing, refusing to eat, lethargic..

I hope they find out what's wrong with him. Thoughts and prayers going out to you and Emerson!!!

Tears for sweet Emerson. I've always loved seeing him and he's long been a favorite of mine. I hope that he gets well. Please keep us updated and give him love from me. I hope you'll get tail wags and kisses again soon. I know how much it hurts to have them sick.

Anna I am so sorry that Emmers is not feeling well. I know how awful it is to leave them at the vet's but that is the best place for them really until they can find out what is wrong. I hope there will be a quick diagnosis and an even quicker cure. I hope you can feel these ((((hugs)))) Anna. Emerson now you hurry and Get Well!

Is he really in the best place and the best hands?? I'm really not so sure. This is so frustrating.

I left Emm off at the vets at approximately 12:30 this afternoon. I fully expected to hear something by 3:00, but waited until 4:30. I called, and was pretty much blown off, saying they hadn't looked at him yet and would call us "soon".

It is now 6:45. No call yet, so I call again. I get their answering service saying that they closed at 5:00. I FLIPPED out. I was thinking How could they leave and not let me know what is going on with my dog??????

The answering service lady put a call through, and they were still at the office so I got to talk to them. Phew! But they still haven't looked at Emerson. They said that Emerson was "litterally the next dog we were going to see, but another emergency came in".

Ugggh. Its so hard to be patient. All I can think about is my poor terrified boy just waiting all day for his turn, and he just has to wait and wait.

So no update yet. They still are expecting that I will pick him up tonight. Please send me some patient pills over here. I am going nutzo!

I know it's hard to wait when you're worried about your baby.

Sometimes it does get very crazy at a vets office, not only having regular appointments and surgeries, but walk in emergencies. While I know your Emerson is your first priority sometimes they have to take a kind of 'triage' stance with emergencies. If someone brought in a dog that was hit by a car and bleeding profusly, or a dog in respiratory distress, I'm sure they'd have to take care of those first seeing as it's life or death immediately situations. Seeing as they are obviously working after hours I'm sure they will call you as soon as they know something, you'll just need to be patient a little longer.
