    My bird is always tired?

I first just want to say that thank you to everyone that posted a reply to my thread "getting them to eat fruit", I never even thought to think that it may just be because that breed doesn't usually eat fruit. Anyways thanks, and getting back on track, my male zebra finch lately is always sleeping. Lately whenever I walk past their cage he's sleeping on the perch. I was thinking it may be because he's starting to chase the female around more often, I'm hoping because he's ready to mate, and is wearing himself out. I don't know to much about birds though, this is really the first time I've had birds before except when I was really young.

I agree, check everything about the bird. Also, are his feathers puffed up? This could mean that he has a respritory infection, my zebras got this at one point in the winter becuase of drafts. If you see that his feathers are puffed up and he appears fat and he is still sleeping like that it probably means that he is sick. You can buy medicine for him at the petshop. My zebras are never sleeping only in the night time. You may also want to check with the vet just in case.
