Meet MONTY! My newest foster kitty! With PICS!

Monty is my newest foster kitty. I went to the shelter in central PA where the other 12 had come from to pick up the sister to the kitty my mom and dad had adopted. While I was there, the woman I was dealing with online, had asked me to check out "Monty". She said he's a nice cat, but there's nothing really special about him, nothing really stands out." So, I thought, well, I'll take a look and see what is up with this Monty guy.

When I first met Monty, all I had to do was kneel known in front of his cage and talk to him and he was "making bread" on the carpet inside his cage. When I got him out of the cage and held him, oh my! Such a HUGE purr!!! He is the biggest love bug I have ever met. He just wants to be held and cuddled and give tons of head bumpies! He's a black and gray tabby with a white bib, tummy and mitted feet. He's adorable! He's sweet!! And they said he wouldn't get adopted and he'd be put to sleep!!! So, of course, the sucker that I am, and since I always travel with at least 3 carriers in my hatchback, lol, he came along with me to be fostered until he gets adopted! He is just a love! He's a good eater, and is very docile. He doesn't bug any of the other cats, and just basically sits and watches everyone. He's not a mover and shaker, and would be a wonderful lap companion for an older person who lives alone.

So, without further ado... here's Monty!

Here's my favorite of Monty... he's so sweet giving me hugs!!

I'm so glad you checked out Monty. He's going to be the perfect cat for someone and lots of people want a cat that will hug them, purr furiously, and not be a bit of trouble. He's handsome too.

Actually, the spots on his nose are scabs from either bumping his head on the cage door at the shelter, or from the nasty URI he had when he got there. His nose is still a bit sniffly, so I'm thinking it may be a combination of the two.

The shelter said "Oh, he's about 2 years old." The vet record for when he was checked out estimates him at at least 5yrs old. I wouldn't be surprised if he were at least 7yrs. He's so laid back, no kittenish ways about him. He just acts mature. I thought at first he was over 10 years, but maybe not. Maybe it was just being a stray and looking a bit rough that makes him look older than he is.

One thing, his paw pads, the big ones in the middle of the paws, seem puffy and really soft. They're also looking really rough in some places, like the skin was peeling. Is this a sign or symptom of anything?

    Marvelous Monty

Nothing special about THIS? Could have fooled me. Jennie, how old is this sweet boy? Has he been neutered? He looks like a Cow Cat! What a cutie.

He's actually black and gray tabby and white. He is an absolute doll!!! He was neutered already when he was found... the shelter had taken him in to be neutered and the vet said he already was. The shelter said they were surprised that his family didn't claim him, because he is such a mush. Someone really gave this cat a lot of love! I'm guessing him to be about 5-7 yrs I guess. He may be younger... not sure.

The area he is from is very poor. I was astounded when I saw the county. It was a lot of ramshackle houses, trailers that were run down, and a lot of campers that were being used as housing. There were a lot of billboards advertising for "Do you qualify for food assistance?" I live about 45 minutes from Philly, and there are a lot of run down areas there too, but I never saw those billboards.

Monty was not happy in the cage, if he is such a cuddler. So glad to hear you took him in. Such a great event for him!

Oh my Jenn, what a handsome devil Monty is. Is there anything better than the purr of a contented cat on our laps. A huge welcome from the Dunn Gang and their "sucker" momma.
