    Nosebleeds...

Our Jess has had a couple of nosebleeds. They are short lived, only lasting a few seconds and then they stop and it only comes from the left nostril. She doesn't seem to sneeze or I didn't remember her sneezing when she did it.
One time was the other day when she was playing ball and the other was this morning when I brought her into the porch and gave her a slice of brown bread and I noticed blood start dripping on the floor as she was eating the bread.

She'll be going to the vets but not today with it being sunday but I was wondering if anyone else had encountered nosebleeds in their dogs.

I hate it when they get old. She just got over the vestibular. If it isn't one thing, it's another...

Never experienced it with my dogs, but found some info.It could be a
nasal tumor, or nasal infection. What I found disturbing in reading about
it was that the dog could easily swollow more blood that that dripping out of the nose.So you don't really know how much blood the dog is losing.

Yes, I googled it and read up some info. Some causes do seem pretty dire but just wanted to see if anyone here had experienced nosebleeds with their dogs.

I hope it is just an infection or something....sheesh, like things couldn't get any worse. It's only a month since our Mist had to be put to sleep.

Gosh, maybe I shouldn't have posted that. Please don't think of only
worst case senarios. It could be just a sinus infection, or something easily
treated. She probably is acting fine otherwise, isn't she?

Deuce gets nosebleeds frequently. We've done a bunch of tests including a biospy of his nasal tissue. Never have figured out what causes the bleeds. Deuce shows no other signs of any problems. He's active, happy, playful, silly, eats and drinks well. At this point, unless he shows some other symptoms, we don't do a thing for the nosebleeds.

You need to go to the vet. A cyst can cause nose bleeds. Give them a call tomorrow.

Yes, she went to the vets today. The vet couldn't see any cuts or anything up the nostrils so she's on anti-inflammatories and antibiotics for a week in case an infection is causing it. I have to go back in a week and if the nosebleeds are still happening or are worse, they'll have to start doing scans and x-rays etc...with the possibility of it being a tumour.....

If it comes to that, she'd have to have radio therapy because they can't really get into the nasal cavities to get it out.

The vet said that there is normal airflow through both nostrils though which is good.

With all the tablets she's been having to take lately..it's a good job she'll take them without an issue.

I do hope it's nothing more than a localized minor infection that is easily
cleared up with the antibiotics.Good luck with Jess & I hope this clears up
    soon.
