    Introducing Xena

    Things went GREAT with her!

    original post here http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...6&page=1&pp=15

She is no where near as bad as I thought she was.
She is such a love. I went to get her and she was all ready to go. I walked her around the block and came back to my house. She and Trav met through the fence. I then tied her up in the front and brought Travis out on a leash and tied him up. I walked Xena around the front yard letting them get used to seeing eachother. Xena is smitten with Travis. She LOVES him!! Travis is started to warm up to her but Im only letting them see eachother for a little bit each day. I don't want to overwhelm either one of them. I'm going to pick her up tomorrow. She loves me. We immediately formed a bond. If I leave she whines until I come back to her. My mom even noticed how much she loves me already. If I stand still, Xena presses up against my side, looks up at me with her gorgeous eyes and smiles until I pet her. She is just wonderful. I didn't want to take her back. I want to keep her. Lol.

Ok, so here's my sweet girl Xena (ok..technically not mine but I'm still claiming her )

The whole walk she kept looking up at me like that

She was glued to my side so it was near impossible to get pictures of her

    Pretty girl

    Look at those eyes

    Whats that?

Can I please go play with him?

    Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaassseee??

    He's over there..so close..yet so far.

I had her tied to that post so I could get Travis situated. She spent that time trying to figure out how to get back to me.

    Taking her home

She LOVES being brushed and pet. She kept doing the famous GSDshovetheirbuttupagainstyou move. Hehe. With all of the hair I got off of her I could make a whole 'nother GSD for them to play with

As far as I'm concerned, she's MY girl I think Xena would agree too.

Xena is gorgeous. I see what your were talking about. GSDs are
such people dogs, it's a shame her family keeps her alone for so long.
It's really great that she takes to you & you can give her some company too.

She certainly does We just need to give Travis some time. Towards the end of the "session" he started trying to play with her. Doing his little slapping thing and whining. He's starting to come around but it will still be a little bit until I can let them play. I'm not worried about her at all. By the way she acts around me, you could never tell that she was neglected. Its amazing.

I know. I can't imagine doing that to a dog, especially a GSD. They need and want to be with their loved ones at all times. I'm just glad her "owner" is letting me spend time with her.

    !
I think it is from the flies eating away at her ears.

She's like a different dog around me. At her house she is really timid and shy. Almost afraid to do anything or go near anyone, but with me she's outgoing and happy and never stops smiling.

Oh Xena Girl!! She is beautiful!! She reminds me of my childhood GSD, Bigfoote. The exact same coloring and everything!! Of course she LOVES you, you are giving her the attention she has been wanting her entire life! You are a great person!!!
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

What a great thread! I am so glad to hear that the first meeting went so well, but I am also glad to hear that you are going to continue to take it slow in allowing Xena and Travis meet and get to know each other. The pictures are great, and it sounds like you are doing everything right to help this little lady. Good for you! She is a lucky little girl to have you for a friend.
