    Unhappy Dog Behavior

we have a 14 week old puppy shepherd/lab mix. we bought him a bed today and he seemed to like it at first - he ran in circles on it but then marked it! we don't want the smell of urine so we washed the cover and tried again and he did it again! any ideas why/how to stop him?

He is marking it to say its his... He is young but says its his. Suggestion- when you see these wild crazies- take him out.. If this continues as rising and getting down presses the abdominal muscles- have his urinary tract checked for infection.

Im not big on puppys, but maybe he gets excented that he has a bed and wants to play so maybe u should let him get use to it and than wash his bed!

He's not marking it, he's just urinating on it.

14 weeks is waaaaaay too young for it to be marking. They don't mark until they hit sexual maturity, and thats usually over 6 months. If you get him neutered before he hits sexual maturity and he is reliably housebroken, you won't have issues with him marking in the house.

He simply sees that bed as a good place to relieve himself. Take the bed, wash it good, and then stash it in a closet for a while and work on training him to potty outside. After a month or 2, when he's going potty outside reliably and hasn't had an accident in a while, then you can try introducing the bed again. In the mean time, he'll be fine sleeping on the floor or where ever he was sleeping before you got the bed.
