How do you get a dog from US to UK?

A co-worker here in London has moved over from the US recently. Someone in her family in the US has to give up (I am sorry I do not know the details) a 1 year old black Lab. So Cynthia would be happy to get him over here- but we do not know about quarantine etc.

Will the dog have to go into quarantine even if he's chipped and ok with all vaccinations?

I would be grateful for any help.

Barbara...I am not too sure if he will have to pass through quarentine anyway or not. I would suggest that you friend contact someone at customs who should be able to direct her to the right people to give her the information she needs.

Barbara, unless someone can post their personal experience, the regulations should be contained in this link.

Barbara, I found a company that can do that for her. It's,

I guess there is a company for just about every need. I have no personal
experience with them, but wouldn't hurt to get a quoted price. I wish your
    friend the best of luck.
