Well I am officially getting a sibe puppy! The litter was born Jan 2nd- 4 boys, 2 girls. Im 3rd in line for choosing a pup- behind the breeder and 1 other person. The breeder wants a female, and the other person wants a red, so hopefully Ill be able to get the black male! Though we'll see, depends on their temperaments too. Hopefully Ill be able to go visit with them once in a few weeks before they are ready to go, but its a 4.5 hr drive so it depends.
I talked to the breeder last night and feel great about her. She is doing all the right things and asking all the right questions of me. The socialization shes doing with the pups is perfect. She owns 3 cats and the dam loves them and even lets them into the whelping box with her! She did caution me that as is typical, her dog would kill a cat outside that wasnt one of "hers", which of course I already knew but Im glad shes educating. She also talked to me about all the "undesirable" husky traits, again as I already knew but am glad shes educating potential puppy buyers. She is selling on a spay/neuter contract. She requests that puppy buyers have the eyes tested at about 2 yrs old and registered. Both parents have clear eyes and excellent hips. Both have numerous champions in their pedigrees, though neither parent is a champion themselves. The breeder (mom's owner) isnt a huge breeder or shower though, she only owns 3 dogs, each a different breed. Momma dog has only had 1 other litter 3 yrs ago and will be spayed after this litter. And the dad is major pointed and has also sired pointed and champion dogs. So all these things are sign of a responsible breeder.
