    Bad Breath

Brandi has the worst breath of any dog I've ever had. I brush her teefies as often as I can and her teeth aren't tartar covered. I'm wondering if it's not her food that's doing it. Man it's like she's got garbage mouth. She's not much of a chewer but does like her greenies and I do give them once a day as well as the brushing. I'd like to get her off the lamb and rice foods she's eating and on to something else to see if it is her food but I'm very limited as to what I can feed her. She did smell better when she was eating the raw chicken wings but then the other end didn't cooperate (terrible diahrrea) so I'm not sure what my next step is. These so called designer dog foods aren't available to me here or at home so I can't feed them. I'm almost tempted to go back to feeding home cooked but I am somewhat concerned about her nutrition balances (because of her propensity toward displaysia)

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest a trip to the vet-maybe a dental would do some good. At least the vet can see if there's any rotten ones back there-one rotten tooth can make a nasty smell. Otherwise, a dental should help, and it's usually not that expensive-$100-$150 (around here).

I would suggest a trip to the vet as well. It could be a bad tooth. Tartar will make an odor too. I would have the vet check the mouth.

I've read that adding a small amount of freshly chopped parsley to your dog's food helps with bad breath.

If there is no problem at the vet try giving raw bones. They help alot with teeth and bad breath.

In all the years of feeding raw-

the only dog I ever had to have their teeth cleaned, is Femka. She never ate raw prior to coming to my house. Either its from a balence of calcium and phorphorus, or lack of additives- the fact is, none have ever had their teeth cleaned in 19 years. However- the only bones I use are poutry in base. The beef bones appear to be too hard, and I never feed them in any shape or form. Also- my dogs never have had "doggie or bad breathe". However- you can not feed any bone- cooked or raw if on a commercial ( kibble diet). This is potentially highly unsafe.. Kibble diets take longer to digest and the bones become hard, and do not digest normally. ..
