Duke's Last Photos

I've been wanting to put these up but it was too hard. I thought I'd do better tonight than I did. It feels like it just happened. It still hurts so much. The day before I was to say goodbye, I wanted to get a few pics of Duke with some Christmas. My plan was for him to wear a Hawaiian shirt but it didn't arrive in time. I needed to get these up for some closure. So very hard. My heart doesn't want to say goodbye.


We had fed him some canned chicken and that made him feel better before going to the vet. He enjoyed half the ride sitting up and looking out the windows. I'm so very thankful for these last few photos. They were his gift to me.
This was what I saw when I opened up the bedroom door.

Well you made me cry...but I wouldn't have wanted to miss those pictures. I can tell by your words that you have begun to heal and realize what a treasure those years were and you are starting to remember the good, that is the first step.

Those are beautiful, I especially love the last three. Duke was a very special dog and you let him live life to it's fullest. He will always be grateful. Very special pictures, they are a treasure.

Oh honey- it made me cry too. I know it hurts- I just do not know what to say. You are in my prayers and Duke waits for you at the bridge.. no concept of time and no clue how long.

Aww love the pictures, they made me cry though which i am now. I know how you feel all about this. Love the photos he is such a gorgeous dog. Didn't want to miss these pictures so i went to these right away. Thanks for sharing with us these photos. I know how hard it is to put them up.

Val, all the pictures made me cry, especially the last one. I know it was hard for you to post these pictures, and you still have a long way to go before you begin to heal. I hope it will get easier for you everyday and soon you will be able to look at these pictures without crying so much.

Val, I know it must have been so hard to put those pictures up, Thank you so much for sharing such a treasured gift with all of us, He is and was such a beautiful soul, you can see the love in his eyes, its ok to miss him val, its ok to hurt, just remember we wont be without them forever, and we always have there love and the memories in our hearts to get us through the really bad times, that is what i cling to.
