    Women Wanna Weld Weekend!

I took a course over the weekend called Women Wanna Weld! It was put on by a group trying to get more women into the trades area. I've taken a few of their classes, built this computer in one actually. They've all be lots of fun. I definately didn't miss my calling as a welder, but I enjoyed playing with all the cool tools. I got to make several projects too!

This was my first project. It's a shelf/leash hanger, about 28 inches long, 14 gauge steel! I have no idea how we're going to hang it! It's heavy!!

I didn't like the way the legs turned out on this candleholder, but once I added the garland, I liked it alot more!

I made two of these. They are galvanized steel and fit over large candles. I think I'm going to give this one to my Mom.

And my last project was this copper & brass bracelet for Stuart. He's always whining that I never make him anything. It's reallly hard to make masculine beadwork, especially when I usually work in tiny beads! This will suit him much better, plus they say copper helps reduce some people's pain. Can't hurt!

I want a plasma cutter now!

Wha a cool workshop! I think you did an awesome job! That braclet is very good-looking, and who knows, maybe Stuart will benefit from it's pain-relieing properties. Hasn't it been about a year since his little mishap? How is his hand now?

Just remember.............when dealing with galvanized leave yourself PLENTY of ventilation. The fumes from welding/cutting it aren't nice.

He hurt his hand in February. The nail never came back and he has no feeling in the tip, except when he bumps where the nail should be! He can feel that and it's not pleasant. As a carpenter, he hits it alot! I had to get him some winterized work gloves as the injured finger is very sensitive to cold. That's likely permanant. The doc said it could take a full year to see if any sensation comes back in the finger.
