Maya has a dry spot on her back; found something on Inka too....

All my cats have a very healthy and shiny fur. But now I noticed that Maya was trying to pull out fur from her lower back. When I look carefully I can find a dollar-size just right before her tail begins; There are scabs on it, and it looks very dry. My vet saw it and said not to worry; but I want to know what it is, and if I can do something about it, I will!!

Maya loves to play in our garden, there are lots of flowers, bushes and trees. She got meds to prevent fleas recently, and she is updated on her yearly shots too. She got ringworm from her sister Zazou one year ago (Zazou brought it with her from the shelter . But that is all cured!

    Can anybody help here??
    THANKS!!

my first thought was the ringworm restarting, but if the vet saw her and OK'd it I feel much better.

If you could get an "anti-itch" cream (hydrocortisone) you could rub some onto the spot to discourage further biting at the fur.

I also discovered some abnormalities on Inka's head: look like ucers . There is a crust on, and it feels like a "ball".

So, I am taking both to the vet at 5.30 pm. Cross paws and tails that everything is treatable....

Back home!! Well, I am glad I tried this new vet out! He examined both cats really thoroughly!

Maya: looks like she is allergic to fleas! That spot looks like a reaction to maybe just 1 flea! So she got a shot to give that skin a chance to heal without being itchy. From now on I have to give her Frontline every month!

Inka : The vet thinks she was bitten by 2 ticks. As she scratched of the crusts, she has 2 open wounds on her forehead. She has to take anti-biotics during 10 days!

Oh my, I am so glad I followed my intuition that they needed help!!
