    Prayers needed please

Ok here goes. I took another job after working at an optometrists office for 3 years. I am now a leasing agent for an apartment community. I have been there 4 months and I thought I was doing really good and my mananger and area manager and VP of the company have said I do good. Well the Pres. and the owner of the Management co. think they need a stronger person for the leasing. So not only may I lose my job but also my apartment. This sucks and I have just been crying. I just don't know what to do. The higher ups don't know that I know this the area manager told me because she doesn't feel that it is right. I am looking for a job right now because I don't want to be left with nothing. She said because I lived there before working there I won't lose my apartment but my only worry is I signed a housing agreement.

Sorry for rambling I just really needed to tell someone please keep rissie and I in your prayers. Thank you so much for those who read all this

I'm sorry you are going through this!

When they say they need a "stronger" person, what exactly are they finding fault with? Do they need someone with good negotiating skills, an outgoing personality etc.

Considering that you must have had interviews etc before being hired, their initial opinion must have been that you were suitable for the job. Do you
    have an employment contract?
Do you work on a quota / target - ie how is your performance measured?? Given that your direct line management are all pleased with you, it seems strange that upper management would interfere.

If the issue was a skill which could be learned, I would ask them if, considering the cost and inconvenience to replace you, would they be prepared to work with you to define a development program.

If it's selling / negotiating skills that are an issue, there are some excellent consultative selling training courses out there (SPIN is a good one) - maybe they will be prepared to work with you to address the issues they have?

(Or you could PM me and I can send you links to a couple of good online resources).

Best of luck - I hope you work something out.

Thanks Kay for my great sig & avatar!!!

I don't know where they are getting this from and neither does the Area Manager. She said I work my butt off and if they ask her to fire me she said she won't do it. They are doing the same thing to the manager and she isn't supposed to know it either and the area manager has told her also. They are very shady. They tell you that you are doing a great job then say stuff like this. I have all the emails stating I am doing good. I just don't understand where they are coming from. I would love the links if you would PM them to me thank you that would be great.

Is it possible that they have a "friend" or family member who needs a job??? That was the first thing that came to mind. How about printing out a copy of testimonial emails and having a meeting??? Something smells fishy here. It happened to me in Michigan. I LOVED my job at the funeral home and thought I was doing a great job. No complaints that I was aware of. One day I was called into the conference room, given my last paycheck and escorted to the door. "It's not working out" is their reasoning. My supervisor kept apologizing to me. I told her it wasn't her fault. It came from the higher ups. I was devastated and cried all the way home. But I saw it as an opportunity to pack up and move back to CT. I never looked back.

Alley Cat gave you great advice.

My sister has been a Property Manager at an Appartment Complex since 1987!!!

She does an exceptional job too, I must add.

However, She has gone through more than her fair share of UPS and DOWNS with the company that she works for.

I doubt they will "fire" you, Catluvrs. I suspect that they want to "mold" you into a robot that can out perform a "human Being"

Being a Property Manager is, by far , one of the most difficult jobs on this planet.

Stick to your morals, ethics and personal standards.

and, of course, keep up with tenant testimonials!!!!
