    Question: Fencing.

The fence, not the sport . Sooo, does anybody have one? I was curious as to what their price range was.. I was going to ask my mom to ask our landlord if we could build one around our house, because for one thing, that would be such a great thing for Roxy, and I've always wanted a fenced yard .

We have a 6ft tall concrete/cinder block wall.

It's just how it's done here in Vegas, I guess.

    No help, sorry, lol.

Depending on the type of fence, its majorly expensive. We got a quote for $10,000 and we don't even have a 1/4 acre!

We're currently in the process of fencing our 5 acres. We're using welded wire fencing. It's really cheap compared to other fencing. We got it at lowes. It's not near as strong as chainlink or other fencing though. Also keep in mind when you're pricing fencing that in addition to the fence you also have to buy the polls. When you're looking at the polls remember that you have to bury them in the ground so if you're getting a 4 foot fence you'll need a 5 foot poll.

Well, I'm not sure how big our yard is. We'd be getting chainlink most likely.

Is chainlink allowed by you? Many townships are telling people its not allowed aroud here unless you're in an industrial zone. Our township says vinyl or wood, and not split rail wood, but a nice decorative wood.

Well, I've seen many many chainlink fences around the area, so I guess so.

hmm...maybe a cheaper solution would be to get a few cinder blocks (the kind with the two big holes in them) and just put sticks of wood through the holes...know what I mean?

    Kinda like this...

And maybe put chickenwire on it so she can't get through? I donno, just a thought ^^

You could even paint it to make it look nice, if you wanted.

Wow those really are expensive - we didn't pay that much then I guess. We bought 6 ft. wood privacy fencing and put it in ourselves. We bought the kind that is not pre treated and treated it ourselves, as it was cheaper that way too. I'd say all in all, we paid about $300-400 for it all...of course, our neighbors have the exact same fence so part was already done, and our yard isn't really big. Of course, we did have to pay for food and beer for the friends that came over to help put the fence in though lol so that was some more money.

Wow, here in England, pretty much any house you buy has a fence, I don't think they build them without them these days, so I'm not sure how much a fence costs. My fence is just wooden boards linked together by concrete pillars. Riptide's idea of blocks with wood through them seems a good idea, providing they can't be squeezed under of jumped over, chicken wire could help but there's a possibilty Roxy could chew through it if she wanted to. Sorry I'm not much help. I'll think about it a bit more for any ideas

Bri, I hate to do this to you but we put up a chain link fence (my husband did it all himself) its not a huge area and it cost over a thousand dollars. Everything is so expensive these days.

Thank you Kay for the beautiful sig!

Yes, it was here in Colorado anyway. You have to buy more than the fence. We were amazed at how much it ended up costing. We live on 1/2 acre my dream is to fence the whole place one day.

I've heard it was expensive.. Hmmm... If you buy the chain yourself would it be any cheaper? I don't think we'd have our whole yard fenced, just the portion where Roxy stays.. =/
