    Mt. Timpanogos Hike <pics>

My friend Michele and I hiked up Mt. Timpanogos last Thursday, spent the night (wouldn't call it sleeping, we froze) and came back on Friday. I took close to 400 photos I tried to narrow it down but did a pretty bad job of it....there's still a ton, I apologize. In case you are wondering, Cisco is my friend's dog, he is an aussie/border collie mix.

I couldn't find a good pic of Timpanogos from a distance on my computer but here's some on a website (scroll down halfway) http://utahpictures.com/Various1.php I think its about 5-6 miles one way to where we went (Emerald Lake, which is actually on the other side of the mountain that you see in those pics). We were going to go to the "saddle" (where you can sit on the actual top of the mountain) but Cisco hurt his paws on the way up and was limping, we didn't think he should have to go any farther than necessary...I think that was another mile or so. We were pretty dead from carrying the heavy backpacks anyway. I've been to the saddle and the metal hut or whatever it is the last time I went, the view from the saddle is amazing!

Anyway, on to the pics...HERE is the link to the album if you'd rather look at them that way.

There were several waterfalls, I'm not sure how many...this was the first one

    Nebo at the second one

    Cisco and Nebo

In the background is the mountain face we climbed up to get to the top (lots of switchbacks)

    Handsome boy

Cisco wants to make sure he gets his picture taken too!

    Wildflowers (columbine?)

Cisco gets the urge for the "call of the wild." He heard a siren in the distance, Nebo had to join in too.

Here's a video of them howling (click it)

Nebo on some snow and at another waterfall (yes I have a ton like this...)

The wildflowers were spectacular, I have never seen so many anywhere

The sun shining behind the mountain

    Another waterfall pic

    Cute boy

We finally reached the top! There's a nice meadow area up there.

See the white spots above the snow behind Nebo? Those are mountain goats

My camera has horrible zoom....we saw some closer but those pics turned out even worse

I think this is my favorite Cisco pic

We had to cross water several times, I was walking through this water when I took the pic

    Husky boy

    Getting closer to the lake

Here's Emerald Lake, its very small, but pretty. From the top it is an emerald color

    The boys

Nothin' like a toilet with lots of fresh air

    Getting darker...

    Taking pics in the tent

We got up early and watched the sunrise. Now that was amazing. These pics didn't capture it very well, it was really pretty.

Nebo in front of our "home." We put up the tent inside of that.

    Bored Bebo

    I love this one

This looks like it was taken when it was darker but it was later than the previous pics, looking toward the sun just made it appear that way. I like the peaceful look it has.

    More like that one

The "u" shape in the middle is the saddle

    Emerald Lake again

I'm ALWAYS impressed by your pictures, ALWAYS!

Beautiful scenery and cute dogs. Seriously though, those have to be some of the greatest and most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I would never be able to pick the one I like best because they are all so beautiful. Do you live in that area? If you do, your so lucky to see that scenery every day. I would love to live there.

Nebo and Cisco pose very well for pictures, and they are both to handsome for words.

What wonderful pictures, Amy! I'm definitely going to sit down with a cup of coffee and look through your whole album when I have more time. Bebo & Cisco look so "ruggedly handsome" in their backpacks. Those wildflowers are beautiful! Sherman was very interested in that howling video. He was lying on the floor behind me, and jumped up when the howling started! Thanks for sharing your week-end vacation with us.
