    New Kirk pics *16*

Kirkie is getting soo big!! He weighed in at 22 lbs. yesterday, which is double the weight he was when he first came home. I'm starting to think that he will be bigger than 40 lbs., which probably makes sense as he was one of the biggest in the litter.

He is better behaved every day and increasing his confidence on walks and outings. He made me so proud last night when he sat quickly and fairly calmly for petting from some of our dog-loving neighbors.

He fetches like a pro, but still hasn't gotten the hang of catching objects mid-air. I keep working on it with him though, using soft toys.

He's also losing teeth like mad this week, so I think it's causing him to be a little extra mouthy. He likes ice and chewies, but hasn't had the patience for frozen stuffed kongs recently. He actually let one melt in his crate this week, mostly ignored. I considered trying to get a teefer picture, but realized that it would probably be an impossible task.

I hope you guys enjoy the pics…I'll start with outdoor ones first.

This is how he carries his tail – hooked and to the right

The white markings on his ear are pretty much faded away...

I like this one for some reason...

Many thanks to Roxyluvsme13 & k9krazee for my great new siggy!!

Yay! Kirk! =D What a big handsome boy. I cannot believe it seemed like just a little while ago you were "wishing" for a BC, now you have the cutest little BC boy. I wish you weren't all the way over in HI... I would love to hug that fluffy little guy, and see him & Fozzie wrestle.

How old is he? I totally lost track. He does look like he'll be on the larger end for a BC... Gonzo was only a few lbs heavier when he was 6 months old! Gonzo is now 40 lbs.

He'll be 4 months on the 25th. According to one source, a 40-lb adult dog should weigh closer to 19.5 lbs at 4 months. My last dog was larger than the average BC as well. I guess it's my destiny. Well, we've started the switch to adult food, and none too early. I'll also be adding in homecooked food (to make up half of his diet) this week. It took me a while to find some of the supplements!

Awwww, I wish I lived near some PTers, man!! I think Kirk and Fozzie would have a blast, and then Gonzo could get a break. LOL! I do get over to Nor Cal on occasion, so perhaps we will meet at some point.

He's a border collie. Yeah, I feel for them losing so many teeth so quickly... They look quite funny when they start losing canines...hehe.

That would be fantastical ! And make sure you bring Kirk along, he can meet all of the NorCal Border Collies! I love his eyes by the way, they're so expressive. I bet they get him out of a lot of trouble!

Kirk is about 1 month younger than Fozzie, and Fozz is almost 20 lbs now. They would be perfect sized play-mates! I do think it depends on what the pup is fed, their growth rate, etc. Like, plenty of dogs gain just a few lbs after 6 months, while some double their weight! Fozzie has slowed down his growth since 12 weeks... probably because he started getting all Raw at that point, which is a VERY good thing. I think Kirk will love home-made, and it'll help slow his growth. A friend's Cardi is 4 months old and weighs 20 lbs, so who knows? Kirk could turn out to be around 40. Now that I think of it, Gonzo *was* about 25 lbs at 6 months, but then again he was kept outside 24/7 and competed for food with several other dogs... so he was definitely on the thin side. He gained 5 lbs in the first month with us.

Is Kirk doing good with all of his commands? Is he in puppy class? It sounds like he's great with meeting new people. I'm dealing with Fozzie right now, he turns into a wiggle-worm when he realizes some one wants to pet him
