    Zipper

My Zipper has been quite sick for over a month now with bad diarrhea that has not been cured with any medication we have tried. I've kept quiet about it because I haven't been here much and hated to look like I was just making a "me" post. He has been x-rayed, poked, prodded, etc, all to no avail. The vet specialists were consulted and have agreed with my vet on everything he has done.

But, to make a long story short, we have run out of options for him. He is lethargic, has lost a tremendous amount of weight, doesn't have an appetite and is simply miserable. After consulting with my veterinarian yesterday, we have decided that Zipper's best chance is to have exploratory surgery to see if the cause can be found. The other options were to take him to a vet school, with the closest one being at the University of Georgia. We just can't do that for a multitude of reasons.

The surgery will be later this morning. If you can spare a good thought or a prayer for this precious boy, I would appreciate it. He is not a young man by any stretch of the imagination. Our best guess is that he is probably around 11 years old, but we just don't know since he was a stray who came to us through rescue. Surgery is always risky and his age doesn't help, either. We just want him to be ok and stay with us for a while longer.

Thank you, in advance, for your prayers.

    Logan

Oh Logan. *hugs* I'm so sorry Zipper is not well.

I pray the surgery will found the cause and that it is simple to fix.

    Many good thoughts for Zipper.
It is so frustrating when you know your fur baby is ill and
the vets can not figure out what is wrong.
    Been their.
Fingers and toes crossed that your vets will find an answer and
    zipper will be well.

How well I remember when Zipper became a part of your family and what a joy it was. He has not let you down, and you have been his rock through these dark days.

I pray that this will be lead to the resolution for his misery. Yes, it is risky but there is certainly a possibility that they will be able to find out what the problem is. And this will give him that chance he deserves. God bless dear, sweet, loving Zipper, and God bless you for giving him such care.

Oh I am so sorry you are going through this with Zipper.
I feel your pain. We had the worst time the first few months with Frankie. He had constant projectile diarreah for the longest time. I hope they can fix him and also hope it won't be to difficult. Hugs

I am so sorry that Zipper is so ill. I will send strong prayers that
something can be done to cure him soon. I know how serious diarrhea
can be. I nearly lost my Buddy to a serious case of prolonged diarrhea.
(Drs. best guess was, he had found a decaying bird somewhere and ate it)

Logan, please let us know how this goes, o k ? Liz.

That precious boy is gone, my friends.

I had to be prepared to make a decision while he was on the operating table and they called and asked me to come back to the office and I just knew it couldn't be good news.

He had cancer in his liver, pancreas and gallbladder. He could not be cured and I made the decision to let him go while he was sleeping.

I'm sorry I didn't share this illness with you sooner. Please give him another prayer to help him along his way. I know that he and Murphy are together, but it is not helping my broken heart.
