Easter Bunny Evicted From St. Paul City Hall

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Easter Bunny has been banished from City Hall in St. Paul.

A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words "Happy Easter" were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians.

A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money.

St. Paul's human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians.

But City Council member Dave Thune said removing the decorations went too far -- and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass."

Sara! I have no problems with taking away the Easter bunny and Santa. They detract from the real reason for the holidays.

Political correctness OVERKILL!!! How about just replacing the "Happy Easter" sign with a "Happy Spring" sign and leave the decorations??? Takes the religion right out of it and offends no one.

Rabbits and colored eggs are not religious symbols. No religion that
I've ever heard of. It's a celebration of new life. A renewal of all living
things.
