Somehow I think that the nylon screen companies and good old Ed have a
little thing going on.
In order to prepare for sleep I must.
Make sure that the screen door is latched.
Have the recliner pulled away from the door.
and have the plastic lid to a storage box between the screen and the frame
of the door in place.

Here's the set up.
The recliner is set next to the door.
(Yes, I can move it - but that limits my furniture options. I have to move
my small bench, coffee table and TV...)
There is a chair rail behind the recliner that is 1/4 of an inch wide.....
There are also some nylon belts that I have hung next to the door. They are
there for the emergencies that come up..
You know.....Tying up a bundle, keeping my pants up....

Here are the mechanics.
Ed, during the day, sacks out on the around the recliner.
In the morning, the sun warms up that spot.
About noon, the arm of the chair get heated and by late afternoon the rug on
the floor next to the chair has had the proper solar treatment for
a long nap.
Ed, in all his cat smartness, agility and guile, figured out that he can
stretch to the cross piece of the door, claw a hole in the second screen
that has graced the door and squeeze out and go for a walkabout.
Why?
I haven't the faintest idea.
I have been awakened from a dead sleep listening to the banging of the
screen door.....
A few times I seen the sight of Cat Arse squeezing thru the NEW AND EVER
ENLARGING HOLE in the screen.
A few times I have been able to sprint over and grab a little cat tail and
reel the little sucker back in.
(Funny, now that we know the game there is no crying or attempted scratching
on his part anymore)
The few times that an escape has been noted I have been duly upset.
Once, on an early Saturday morning, I awoke to see the cat moving out the
hole.
By the time I was clothed and shoed, I went in serach of the Edster, not
seeing him in the area, I worked my way around around the yard I happened
upon the newspaper and thought to myself-
I am just gonna sit down here by the firepit and read it...The Edster will
be back shortly.
Sure enough a few seconds later the tinkle of a bell marked the arrival of
my friiend and yours!!
He walks up to me from behind, looks at me and says, Let's GO HOME!
