Happy-not on a leash, sometimes trots ahead, sometimes walks in a heel, sometimes lags behind to sniff something.

Owned by two little pastries!
REST IN PEACE GRACIE. NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T MISS YOU.
both mine walk ahead of me a little bit but they dont pull. They know when to move over to the side when people are walking or riding their bicycle.
Tango: Either at a heel or ahead a bit with a loose leash. Depends on where we are and how she's behaving. I don't accept any pulling on the leash at all.
Winston: Always at a heel, otherwise it's lke you don't exist and he won't listen to anything. He didn't have much training before coming to us.
Tia: Ahead with a loose leash, she doesn't even know how to heel..
Morgan: At a heel most often, sometimes I'll let her ahead a bit but I'd rather work on her heel while she's still young.
------
Forgot to add, the don't go ahead of me without my permissiob. They have to wait for me to say "Ok!" and then they know they can walk ahead a bit.

When I was living with my parents and had Willy (also after I had to give him to them) it went like this:
Trix: She used to strain and yank but I got her to chill out and just walk either in front or on the side at a nice pace.
Willy: Walks ahead at a normal pace. He used to do the same things with Trix but I got him to stop it, eventually.
Little Dog: Doesn't use a leash. She was abused and starts cowering at the very sight of a leash. She likes to walk along side or a tad ahead. She listens very well so nobody has a problem with this.
lol yeesh way to make me feel bad! Perky, Ripley, and Blair belong to my mom, she does not walk them, they get ALL of their exersize through off leash runs and dogsports. Misty pulls, in places she knows well, she has an absolute perfect heel, both on and off the leash. however in places that continually change or she has not been before, forget it, NOTHING will get her attention, I manage to control her with a haltie but it only works if she does not try to hard, because if she REALLY wants ahead she turnes to face me and pulls backwards as hard as she can till the muzzle part comes off then turnes around and pulls forward. with years of haltie training she is getting a teeny bit better, she someone handled her now and not before they would never believe that she used to be worse lol

Snowy is a puller. The only time she doesn't pull is when she is tired or if I have a treat on my hand

For most part Autumn heels on her own. But since the walks is for her enjoyment I don't enforce it much, she gets a loose lead. She never pulls and she always sits at the street corner. Any dog that I walk soon learns that I don't accept pulling. I work with them when I take them for walks at work and even after a day or two most know to wait for permission before they get to go off sniffing.
