I guess I say "Doc-sund"
Never really thought about it before.
Always cracks me up though when a customer will call and say, "I need to get my Datsun groomed." Like the car. I'm always tempted to ask if they want an oil change, too.![]()

"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam
"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
I mix the two. I pronounce it Dox-hound or Dox-hund.

It's a German breed and this is the correct way. Americans tend to pronounce it Dash Hound. I guess it all depends on where one is from and what kind of accent one has.Originally Posted by Orlando Bloom's Gal

Thank you Wolf_Q!
Yeah beacuse there is another breed called a dashhound though I think it is a second name. One that isn't fromaly recognised yet stilll used to refer to the breed. 'Dok-hund' is how I pronounce Dachsund, though I'm a little favorable to a little k sound when I say things "Dox-hund" is what I believe it is supose to be pronounced.Originally Posted by clara4457
