Kelly, I feel terrible that I did not see this thread before. I have been making "quick hits" on Pet Talk but not really reading all of the threads.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. It is frightening and you just want to jump ahead in time and have all of it behind you with some good explanations in hand.

I know that will happen soon. I don't live that far away from you and would be glad to do anything I could to help you out.
Please feel free to p/m me.

In the meantime, you have my prayers that you will become more comfortable. Pain meds are very harsh and I would imagine that is why you are dizzy. I personally, cannot take them.

A big hug to you and I hope you can get some sleep.

Thank you for your prayers and kind/positive thoughts.

    An update:

I called my dr. on Friday morning while at work to see when my appointment for the colonoscope is and to get a prescription for NuLev. He returned my call at home at 6:15 p.m. at home. I wasn't home yet, so he left a message saying that NuLev is Levsin, something that he's prescribed me to stop the cramp/pain thing (didn't work). That was all he said, except that I could email him this weekend with any questions because he was on call. So, I did. I sent him an email asking when my colonoscope was, when I could return to eating solid foods and if the Levsin (NuLev) could be used daily as a preventative. This was about 6:45 p.m. on Friday night.

Well....its Monday morning and I still do not have a response from him. Thus ends his last chance in this matter.

I have an appointment with a GI on Tuesday, March 11th. I'm eating food again, nothing that I'm not allowed to eat in regarding to my food sensitivity diet and am keeping track of EVERYTHING I'm feeling. I'm armed and ready to see this GI, hopefully he'll know what to do and we can get me better.

I will keep you all updated. Thank you so much for your concern, prayers, ideas, information and kind thoughts. It has given me a lot of strength and support. Thank you...

    Love, Kelly

I too have endometriosis and man it is very painful. I have been to so many docotors and they all told me the same thing, that it was just all in my head. Thankfully I finnaly found a great doctor and I am scheduled for an endoscopic surgery in a few months, hopefully it will be ok. During that time they will go in and remove as much of the scar tissue they can. This has been the cause of two miscarriages for me, and it took me a long time toconceive Dylan. Hopefully after surgery I will be able to carry to full term again but we will be putting in a cerclage (sp?) just in case. I will also be trying out new medications as well which should help. The other docs I have had in the past just did not know or care about what I was going through. A good doctor makes all the difference!!!

Kelly I am sorry you are going through this. I do hope you recover fully and feel better soon.

I did know someone with the same condition and I couldn't believe how painful it must have been. I'm praying for a speedy solution and a happy outcome!!

    Kelly,

I've been reading what you've been saying about the pain. Just want to warn you about Vicodin. It is addicting and should be taken on a full stomach. Alicia is right when she says you should wean yourself off.

Do you still have your gallbladder? I had pains in my upper right quad that came everytime I ate something that was high in fat or other stuff (10 years ago, don't remember what the other stuff was). They did an ultrasound and found a cluster of gall stones that was hidden by my liver. Out came the old gall bladder. The surgery and recovery were very quick and boy did it feel good not to have the pain!!

You're still in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted. And if you are unhappy with his diagnosis or his treatment, get a second or even a third opinion!!

Boy am I glad I made the decision to move on to a GI. My doctor STILL has not emailed me back! Its been almost three full days...amazing!

Re: Vicodin....I've only taken it that one night. But, if I need to take it again, I'll take your advice. Thank you!! My dr. didn't mention anything....why am I not surprised?

Oh goodness I hope you get some relief soon. I recentlly had severe pains which I thought were coming from my back at first at about 3 or so in the mornings...so bad that I could hardly breath. Way too bad for me to sleep through, so I had to get up. I had some relief once I was up and walking around. I figured it was my matress, even though we have a brand new wonderful matress. About three nights of walking up between 2-3 AM with pains so bad that I could not lay back down, and I couldn't breath w/o hurting so bad that my eyes teared up, I decided to go to the doctor. I was really freaked out. I thought for sure it was something terribly serious, and I was terrified. The conclusion was I had a hyatial hernia and acid reflux. When I layed down, a valve which was supposed to be closed, was open and it was leaking acid into my stomach and asaphagus (jeez these medical words are hard to spell!!!) and it caused SEVERE pain. I was getting between 3-4 hours a sleep a night, and it was pure hell. I was exhausted, but terrified to sleep, because I would just wake with the most God aweful pains.

I hope that what you are experiencing is no more serious then what I went through. I changed my diet, started going to my chiropractor, which showed me how to manually push my intestines out of my diaphram (hyatial hernia), and I began improving. It's been about 8 weeks now and I have not had any more flare ups.

I agree with everyone, in that you should absolutely cut out all caffene and soda. If you think that what you may be experiencing may very well be a hyatial hernia and/or acid reflux here are a few things to do to not only help it not get worse, but it will help you avoid that happening in the future. Try to cut out anything spicy (just in case that is what you are going through) and absolutely never eat within three hours before you lay down. If you have a late dinner, sit up in a comfey recliner or on the couch until three hours has passed, then you can lay down. Also, after you eat, never, EVER bend down, unless you strictly bend with your knees, never let your stomach bend. If you drop your fork, either leave it there until your food has digested, or bend with your knees...never bending with your stomach. Try to keep your back as stiff and streight as a board if you absolutely have to bend down, until an hour after you eat. What you are describing sounds like it very well could be a hyatial hernia and acid reflux and, if it is, as long as you catch it early and do what the doctor suggests, it's very fixable.

Best of luck to you. I know that it's scary, and I only hope that it's nothing serious. I will be thinking about you and wishing you well. Please let us know when you find out what it is.

Hugs from Leslie, slobbery kisses from Graham & Kersey, & headbumpies from Minion.
