This is a large, European breed that can weigh up to 80 pounds. The breed was first recognized as a distinct breed about 70 years ago. This sheep herding guard dog is unaffectionate towards its humans. It prefers the flock it so enthusiastically protects. They were brought to the US and Canada to control coyotes.

Hmmm, Beauceron? It's confusing because the majority of herding breeds are fiercely loyal and affectionate with their handlers I was about to guess Komondor, but I know one and these dogs adore their owners.

Another breed from Europe. Dogs of this breed have "earrings", long black tips on their ears and they need 2 year before their coat matures. One dog of this breed once saved a prince by waking up the prince in the night during an assassination attempt.
