I have screwy feet, so need my orthotics so need shoes for walking around. They're generally off when I'm seated, but if I walk around without them all day, my feet ache.

No shoes in my apartment! This might get confusing but: I live with my boyfriend. My boyfriend's brother used to live with him in the same apartment (he moved out, I moved in). Anyway but the time I moved in, the carpets were sickening. His brother works at Don Pablo's and he would track in all kinds of disgusting stuff from the restaurant. *gross* We had to have the carpets professionally cleaned when I moved in, and they're still kinda bad. Cleaned but forever ruined. So now, the rule is, ABSOLUTELY no shoes anywhere in the apartment. I'm sure we'll get slammed for $$ for the carpets when we move out, but....what are ya gonna do?

What kind of disgusting stuff? Should I be concerned? My son eats there once a week.

Nope, and if it wasn't a requirement I wouldn't wear shoes at ALL! I love going barefoot, and always did as a kid. My feet got real hard after a while, I even could walk on glass without getting cut but after being out in the world where shoes are required my feet have lost some er, toughness. I doubt I could walk on busted up glass anymore but I do know I can walk on rocks and stuff and not get hurt.

I hate shoes. None ever fit my feet right so my feet always end up hurting after a short while.

Everyone just takes off thier shoes at the door most of the time. Its really more out of comfort than anything else. If someone didn't I wouldn't be too miffed about it though.

I wear slippers in winter, to keep warm, and Jandals in summer, I am not keen on barefeet anywhere, think about it, people may have smelly sweaty socks, then take them off and walk around, not only leaving a not so nice aroma, but you never know where they have been with those feet, it might be best if guests keep their shoes on, but then you don't know where they have been either, maybe we should offer our guest throw away slippers he he.. but yes I wear different shoes for outside most of the time, now trying to get the rest of the family to obey my rules is another story.

Sometimes, only if I'm going back outside soon and the shoes aren't dirty!

Yes. Shoes are aloud in the house, unless there muddy or something.

But usually they come off anyways.

If I'm ever at a friends home/relatives I always ask if they want me to take my shoes on or off, because I'm never too sure how they run things.

    Yes.
If a guest wants to take theirs off, or keep them on, it's their choice. The only time I take my shoes off right away is if they're muddy/sandy.
We clean our carpets often, so we don't have to worry about them being "disgusting"
We also have rugs at our doors so we wipe our feet before entering, which those rugs are cleaned as well.

I *try* not to! I also encourage other people in the house not to wear their shoes in the house, lol, I'm such a neat freak!

    It depends.

Sometimes I take my shoes off.
Other times, I'm too lazy to take them off. (like now for example )

This is me too. If I ever complain about something my husband leaves laying around, he can always bring up *the shoes* in retaliation. I wear these Okabashi sandals which are easy to slip on and off. I bought them at the grocery store for about $10 a pair and they are so comfortable. I have about five pair, and it seems that each door in and out of our house has a a pair of these nearby.

At my dads, it doesn't really matter but usually we take our shoes off unless there is some reason for it (but it's no big deal to wear shoes in the house - we just don't do it)
At my moms, you need to take your shoes off. She hates ppl walking on her floors with shoes on.

No shoes in my house. I am OCD when it comes to pretty much anything especially cleaning. Our close friends know how I am and will remove their shoes when they come over. If it is someone new to our house, I don't ask them to take their shoes off but go into a cleaning frenzy when they leave!

No shoes for me, though my husband wears his shoes. I just wear something sometimes that is easy to slip on and off. Just habit I guess, not that it is going to hurt my floors or anything like that. I just want my floors to be clean if I am going to be barefoot, I can't stand to have dirt on my feet!

Thank You, kittycats_delight for my new siggy!!!
