Well, Max was confined in his own room all day and was frantic to get out when I got home. He was such a good boy and used the litterbox OK but he's still very unsteady on his back legs. Tonight was his first dose of medication and the pills are soooo small and I have to give him 3/4 of a pill so that's 3 tiny bits. Instead of the usual grab, shove and let go, I crushed the first bit into his favourite Friskies Salmon dinner and he wolfed it down. Same with the second and third so it looks like the meds will be blood-free this time. His pee biscuits (see?? I'm learning the lingo ) are almost back to normal which tells me that the S/D is working and the crystals are dissolving.

I know that he's not out of the woods just yet because he won't let me touch his back end at all, not even to pet so he must be feeling some pain. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow because, like you, I hate to see any animal in pain. The meds only last 4 days and if he's not any better by Thurs (I said Wednesday previously) I'm taking him for x-rays.

My gut tells me this is not a permanent thing. I'm comparing it to myself when I've exercised after months of dormant activity and I can hardly walk. At least I hope that's the case.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Being worried a little about my boys I forgot to check on Max. I am glad to hear he's a little better and I hope it's just as the more experienced people say: that the meds work slowly

How's Max doing? I wonder what kind of meds the vet is giving him. Hopefully they do the trick.

My gosh, I'm sorry. I've been so busy praying for other kitties I forgot to give you an update.

As I type this Max is sitting at my feet MMMMMEEEEOOOOOWWWWWIIIIINNNNNGGG for food. It's like he's got a bottomless pit.

He's walking much better now so I guess the meds are helping. Tonight is his last dose. He does not cry in pain anymore but he is carrying one back leg a big stiff. I'm totally convinced that he must have sprained or twisted something. X-rays are not needed at this point but believe me I'm keeping a close watch on him.

Yes, he's definately back to normal because he just took off after Speckles...poor girl, just can't get any rest.

Thank you all for your concern. I love you all and this is futher proof that Pet Talk Prayers really do work.

Yeah Max! But take it easy yet big guy, you don't want to re-injure yourself right away!

    Hi Slick,

Just wanted to chime in that I'm so glad Max is on the mend. He's still a relative youngster at 11 so I'm sure he'll be back to his old self within no time!

Glad to hear it's better. Just like humans with their joints- it's difficult to see what happened but most of the time you can get it right again
