Thread: Puddy's gotta go back to the vet NOW!

  1. #31
Just got home from an appt. and I had to leave Puddy in her room while I was gone and, boy, was she ever squawking when I walked in! I figured she just wanted outa there but she's pacing and squawking right now, so I guess I'll just keep an eye on her. She doesn't appear to be in any pain so maybe it's the cystitis making her feel like she has to pee when she actually doesn't. I have someone coming to give me an estimate in about half an hour, so I'm hoping she'll be ok. Typical Friday in this cat household.

    Blessings,
    Mary

    Getting sick on Friday?
In Tigris' DNA it's major Christian holidays

I'm so glad to hear Puddy is doing well. She is one amazing lady. And you are right. We can learn a lot from the kities how to cope with sickness.

All things considered, she's doing pretty well, I'd say. She was restless last night, though. Puddy is so independent but since she's come home, she follows me everywhere and if I leave the room, she squawks. LOUDLY. She slept w/me last night and if I even took my hand off her, she cried. I think the whole thing was just too stressful for her. She's been so good w/taking her subQ treatments but the last couple of times, she cried and trembled. That is NOT Puddy. And she seems to have developed some sort of tic; her head jerks 3 or 4 times every couple of minutes or so. She goes in to see Dr. Lee on Wednesday and I'm sure going to ask him about that.

    Blessings,
    Mary

Oh gosh! Poor little girl! She is probably just terrified of everything that is going on. I hope that it gets better, and that she won't need all the meds and treatments. She sounds totally overwhelmed by everything. Hugs and kisses and gentle scritching to the dear girl.

Sounds like poor Puddy just needs her meowmie and Lots Of Love. She'll soak it up like a sponge...and I am sure she will get back to herself soon.

Puddy had a pretty good night; she slept well, either w/me or in her room. She didn't appear to be so frantic as she has been for the last couple of days. And when it came time to administer her meds this morning, she was her ol' feisty self. That tic does have me concerned, though, and I'm hoping it might just be due to all the meds she's on, which she'll discontinue after a while. But overall, she's pretty much the Puddy I know and fear, er, uh, rather, that is, love .

    Blessings,
    Mary

I missed this thread earlier - sorry. I'm glad to hear Puddy is doing better, although she has this tick, that, I would be concerned about too. I hope it's due to the medicine and will stop once she off it.

Oh poor girl having to go through all this, she must have been so stressed out.

What she needs is peace and quiet and a lot of loving from mommy, and I know she'll get it. Please give her extra kisses and gentle scritchies from me.

    Get better Puddy!

I fear that my little Puddy has been traumatized.

She has her moments when she's herself but when it comes time to take her meds, she cries and clings to me for dear life and she just trembles the entire time. This is when I'm just giving her a pill and her her pain liquid which I just squirt onto her gums. You should see her when I give her the subQ treatments! Puddy has always been feisty, so that isn't it. But she calms down when I talk to her. But nothing calms her down now. She just cries and trembles. I feel so bad. I sure hope I've done right by this little girl. I don't want her to be miserable. Everyone at the vet's office is so nice; I can't imagine that anyone was mean to her because she was mean to them, trust me. But I don't know what else is going on w/her. She's been through surgery before and hospital stays, too, and she's never been like this.

    Blessings,
    Mary

Oh Puddy, sweetie. I hope you can calm down and start to feel more normal soon. Maybe you are just getting enough of all this medication or maybe your pain meds need to be changed (not working). But either way, prayers for you and your meowmie.

I think the pain meds are working; they make her rather drowsy, too, which is good to calm her down a bit. I do think, though, that the new appetite stimulant upsets her stomach because she cries for a long time afterwards. I'm going to call and ask if I can give her the old stuff; she seems to tolerate that better. C'mon Wednesday!

    Blessings,
    Mary

Oh! Poor Puddy! It just makes you wonder what is going through their thoughts. I wish there was someway we could all communicate to eachother...

I hope you can find something that makes her calmer. How long do you have to do the sub q treatments, and what do they entail?? I've never had to do anything like that, so I haven't a clue what this little girl is going through. She just must be so tired of all the sickness and medication.

Oh I am so very sorry for all you and your Puddy are going through. Hopefully this will be the last time she needs to go to the hospital and you will be able to take her home healthy and happy. Hugs to you and Puddy. Monica

Ok, gonna try this again. I'm having problems w/this program. Anyhow...

The subQ treatments are usually no big deal; they're simply a drip of Ringer's lactate under the skin w/a thick gauge needle so that the procedure goes quickly, usually in 5 min. But since her surgery, she's cried and trembled and tried to jump off the table every time. When she was first diagnosed w/CRF, she had to have them twice a day, then once a day, then every other day, etc. until she was down to once a week. But now she's back to every day until we see how her remaining kidney will function.

She finally did calm down today but pilling her was a real treat. She has yet to get her subQ treatment today but I'll deal w/it. If she can take it, I can, too. She goes to have her sutures removed on Wed. and I hope Dr. Lee comes out of it w/all his digits. And I'm hoping he'll tell me that the nervous tic is from all the meds, which she should be done w/soon.

    Blessings,
    Mary
