    Uppydate on Me

First, I need to thank you all for your continued support and prayers. Lately, I've been telling myself that while my life has been a rollarcoaster, God has indeed blessed me with the family I'd have chosen if given the chance. (((((hugs to you all)))))

Long story short, due to the financial implications of my illness, I'm being forced to discontinue my lease here. I'm going to be moving (with all five of my cats) to my great friend CiCi's house. My last day in my apartment is Sunday, October 30th. I'm upset, but need to remain positive, as I cannot make myself sick.

As a result, my mom is very angry. She'd rather have me "get rid of my cats" and move in with her. I'm sad she can't see what they mean to me...and that I'd never part with them like that.

I do, however have some fairly good news regarding my health. I went to see my specialist at Cedars on Thursday and he validated the pain I've been having for over 5 years. He thinks its a nerve ending issue. He said we could try a nerve blocker through the back...but he, nor I, were thrilled about that option. Instead, he's calling my GI and is sending me to a pain management specialist close to me. In the mean time, he's given me more than enough pain medicine that will hopefully keep me out of the ER/hospital.

I'm sad to see my independence go away, but with time, I'll be able to save enough $$ and move to my own place again. I'm so lucky...well, blessed, that I have friends like CiCi and you guys. I don't have any idea what I'd do without you all.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know what's been going on in my life.

    Love, Kelly

P.S. I LOVE my job!! I trained all last week and tomorrow I'm shadowing the person who's job I'm taking (she got promoted to the ER). I'll be there at 6:30 a.m. to see how we open up...and watch her admit patients all day. I'm really looking forward to that.
    ...RIP, our sweet Gini...

Kelly, I am so glad you are managing to remain upbeat and positive, and the new job sounds wonderful.

I can understand why your Mum must be angry - I have had similar issues with mine in the past - and time heals these wounds - the main thing is that you don't stress yourself about it and make yourself ill over it!

Thank goodness you have a wonderful friend like Cici, who understands (as we do) how very important the furkids are to you!

The new pain management you are looking into sounds like another positive step too - hope it continues to work out well.

Sending you tons of prayers and positive thoughts!

I'm so sorry that you have to leave your appartment, as you were so happy when you moved there. But, I just know it, you will find an even better place in the future! It just HAS TO be, you deserve it!
Good luck with your new job, Kelly, it sounds perfect for you!

I am so sorry that you need to give up your appartment, but you have an AMAZING friend who is helping you AND your kitties. I only wish your parents could understand that pets are family memebers.

Kelly, you are truly blessed, and I'm glad you are able to see that. Someday mom will come to understand what the cats mean to you - this move should have reflected that to her.

I am so glad they might have a proper diagnosis for you. What does a pain management specialist do? Teach you ways to mentally deal with the pain? Teach you ways to move when the pain comes? I find this very intriguing since I never heard of one before! It sounds like a god-send for people like you.
