    Congrats on getting Mr. Betta!

I wouldn't reccomend getting him a buddy while he is in a bowl, only because he might get territorial about 'his' space and wind up killing/hurting the other fish. I know that African Dwarf Frogs can live well with Bettas, but I'm not sure of any other fish.

    YW.

    Taken from that site:

So what kind of fish make good tank mates? Here are a few:

    African Dwarf Frog
    Bala Shark
    Cherry Barb
    Clown Loach
    Cory Cats (Corydoras)
    Cardinal/Neon Tetra
    Guppy
    Ghost Shrimp
    Mollies
    Platies
    Plecostomus
    Snails (one per tank)
    Swordtails
    White Cloud Minnow
    Zebra Danio

I'm sure this list isn't all-inclusive, but it's a good start. Also, every fish's personality is different so there's always the possibility of having a fish that prefers not to have ANY tank mates. So if you see any fin nipping or aggressive behavior going on be sure to separate them. A five to ten gallon tank will provide more room for tank mates to stay out of each other's way. Plants will also help to provide hiding places.

I wouldn't get any buddies unless you get a bigger tank. The general rule of thumb on the number of fish to house in an aquarium is 1" of fish per gallon of water. I'm a little over that, but I vacuum and test my water once a week.

*NOTE* Guppys must be female, not showy males, or your betta will likely kill them.

He's such a beautiful coloring Robin!

Here's Jango in his old home:

A few months ago I upgraded him to a 1 1/2 gallon fish bowl. I added a new plant and a rock with holes in it so he can hide out or swim thru it.

Shortly after I added some snails (Petco gave them to me for free) and just a few weeks ago I added two white cloud minnows as buddies. All are living harmoniously.

Congrats! Bettas are fun fish to have; They are easy keepers and they're very pretty. So, his official name is Mr. Betta?

I have a betta, too, he is a "True Purple" betta (Even though he is dark blue in colour..)
    His name is Harold.

This isn't the very best picture of him, because his font looks brown instead of black, but you can at least see the colors of his back fins. (and yes, he does have one stick of bamboo in his bowl. )

Very pretty fishy! I've got three myself and they are all doing great, never been sick. They are really easy to care for, so don't be too worried. I found bettatalk.com to be very helpful. As far as food, I feed all mine Hikari and it doesn't dirty the water at all, works great for color, and the fish love it. I don't have any pics of my bettas on my computer yet, they are still sitting in my camera...I'll have to post them later. But good luck with the new addition!

Everyone's bettas are so pretty. I am already thinking of getting a bigger bowl. I don't know just have to wait and see. I would love to get another one. I'm sure I could make a another spot here on the computer desk for him. I even saw a tank where it had a divider in it. Does anyone have one of those?

As of right now I still call him Mr. Betta or Mr. B but I'm not for sure if that is what his name will be. For some reason I just seem to be hooked on this little guy and it amuses me so much...lol.

Yup, I have an All Glass MiniBow 2.5 gallon tank that comes with a divider for bettas. Its kinda expensive, like $30, but it comes with a filter, hood, and light too. Its the biggest 'betta bowl' I've found with a divider. Word of advice if you get any divided tank, careful not to have the water level too close to the top of the divider. I have woken up on morning to find Draco and Satine on the same side, exhausted after a night of fighting - Satine had jumped the divider. They both survived and fins grew back because I had some BettaFix handy. But other than that (which was my fault, not the company's) I love it and it works great.

Congrats! My betta, Drew, was also an impulse buy

Here he is. Drew doesn't live in this bowl anymore. I got him a 2 gallon octagon tank with a pump. He loves it!
