Glacier... I was wondering if you knew what kind of dog Meeka was... I always thought she was an Alaskan Husky, but someone PM'ed me and said they think shes a Siberian... what do you think? I thought you might know since you have so many huskies.

I'm not Glacier but I always thought she looked more like a Siberian Husky...

Maybe this is not entirely correct but I always thought Alaskan Huskies were mostly just husky mixes....bred only for working ability. There's not a distinct look to them really. I think that's what most people use for sled racing now insted of the purebred dogs like siberians and malamutes.

I'd say she's a siberian. If she's not a purebred sibe, she's pretty close. She's a beauty in any case. I have a soft spot for bi-eyed huskies as my special Hoodoo was one.

Wolf_q is right, Alaskan huskies are husky crosses bred to work. Most mushers use Alaskans in their race teams. The vast majority of my dogs are Alaskans. There is no breed standard for the alaskan husky. Any husky cross can technically be called one. Many alaskan huskies have very little siberian left in them. Lots of different breeds are mixed in--border collies, GSP, tons of hounds! Hounds and Pointer crosses are the big thing in sled dog racing right now.
If you are lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you must find the courage to live it.

Wow... I didnt know that! The only reason I was stuck on thinking she is an Alaskan... is because of her coloring and her size. She only weighs 39 pounds. I didnt know sibes could be that small! But I came across this site with all the siberian colors... and was thinking she looked somewhat like Saddle Back...

That is the one I think she looked closest to.

Thanks for all your help guys!
