The book is one of my favourite books. I've probably read it a dozen times since 3rd grade, if not more. My copy is so worn and dog eared. hehe I saw the movie once in 4th grade and bawled my eyes out. Then recently I saw they had it at WalMart for something like $5 so i went ahead and picked it up. Haven't watched it yet, tho.

I read it and saw the movie, and, loved both. I believe there at least was a second movie made, but, I can't remember for sure. I have no idea if a second book was written, though. The author also wrote Summer of the Monkeys, which is good. I think I remember seeing one or two movies from that one, too. Good stuff. Old Dan and Little Ann....awww.....

    Thanks, Dogz!

I loved that book!! It was really sad though, I cant remember if I cried. My teacher read it to us when I was in 5th grade! We watched the movie too, but i cant remember the movie very well.

I read that book two or three years ago. I finished it in school, too and had teachers and other people there asking me if I was ok since I was crying!

It just bawl when I read that. In fact, just hearing about it will make me cry.
