Absolutly. They needed you and you were there. They thank you for that!!!!!!!

It would have been wrong not to do what you did! And look the other way. You are fantastic!

It would have been nice to see that person pay for what she did to them, but she will later when she has to face god!

Donna, don't ever question your intentions. I know deep down inside that you know you did the right thing. How could you not
once you saw the condition those poor babies were in. That woman should be reported.

Bless you and thank you Donna for saving their lifes.
I hope and pray that they both find good, loving, caring forever homes that they so deserve.

Thanxamillion for rescuing that dog. I think people who abuse animals should be more severely dealt with than they are now.

Donna, You should feel no guilt whatsoever for rescuing these animals from such a rotten life. I've made many an animal go *POOF* into the night, and I don't even look back. Thank you for saving these two.

Oh Donna, you absolutely did the right thing by taking these
poor animals to people will care for them. They have a chance
at a good life now. Luka probably cried because it was the
first time anyone had shown him such kindness. He is in the
best place now for that to happen. Thanks for taking the kitty
too. That woman was totally ignorant of animal safety & care.
I doubt she knows what loving an animal means.

Poor critters. You did the best thing they've ever had. At least they'll get warmth, food and water, and a chance at finding a loving forever home.

I called the Humane Society today to follow up on their progress. Both of them were euthanized.

I am just beside myself right now. I've let them both down. I thought I was doing the right thing by bringing them there in the hopes they'd find good homes and Luka would get the medical attention he so badly needed. If only I had known.

I can't stop crying over what I've done! I would've MADE room for Leo. I would've FOUND someone to take him temporarily till I could've made enough money to get him medical attention!!

I think of the man who was turning in two cats abandoned in an apartment, one a beautiful Maine Coon named Bob. They're probably dead too!!

Oh Donna I am so sad to hear this news too, and I can understand how awful you must be feeling, but please don't berate yourself over this, you still did what you thought was for their best, if they had stayed with that horrible owner, they would have suffered terribly and died eventually a slow and horrible death.

You did what you did with the best intentions, and did the humane society say why they put them to sleep? did they not give the animals the chance for adoption.

Its a real tough cruel world out there, unfortunatley we cannot save them all, so please don't feel so bad or guilty, but by the same token I can well understand why you feel the way you do.

I had to capture a Black Tom here some years ago, they had been trying to get him for years, he was causing so many problems with everyone's cats here, some awful people were tallking about shooting him, he was always in cat fights, and the poor thing was in a terrible state when i caught him, he also looked like he either had rickets or was hit by a car at some stage, as he walked bad, he had pus streaming out his eyes and nose, and I knew when I captured him, what is fate was, he was going to be put to sleep, and I cryed and cryed about it for days, I could just see his pitiful face, I knew it was a blessing for him, but I felt extreme guilt all the same, but it was the people who abandonded him who should , so Donna I know how heavy your heart feels right now, HUGS SWEETIE!!!

    I'm so sorry, Donna.

I am sorry you are so sad over this. It is a shame what has happened. I have to agree with Carole, they would have died a more prolonged, horrible death and suffered...possible malnourished and ill, had you not taken them. You did your best, you did what any of us here would have done. Those owners should be ashamed of themselves for what has transpired, not you. They were the irresponsible ones, you were the most responsible loving person they had probably ever encountered. That poor dog, had no love, granted it is terribly sad that he has been euthenized, but at the very least, he is healthy and happy now, at the bridge, not chained to a car, and starved...he can now be free, along with his cat friend ((((HUGS)))) to you.

Oh Donna, I know you feel worse than awful. Remind yourself that they had some time of rest and warmth and non-stop food and security. Remind youself of what WOULD HAVE BEEN AND HOW YOU WOULD HAVE FELT NOT STEPPING IN. Would you not have kicked yourself for NOT intervening? For NOT keeping these guys from continuing to live with these so called "owners"? I know you feel you could have taken in Leo, but you know what? There are going to be many, many more Leos in your life and he knows it, he knows what you did for him and for every Leo you save, he will know about it... Don't you think? It's much better the way they went peacefully than suffered from neglect. You know that as much if not more than anyone here. It's their "owners" that should should be sent a letter from the Humane Society telling them the fate of their pets that they could not be bothered with. They should be legally forbidden to have pets based on neglect. But since no charges were pressed....no one will care if they get more pets. It is never ending and so frustrating eh? You take care. We still have to get what's his name, (georgie?) from the woods or traffic, right? Or is there some new lost soul that needs your help? You will always be needed by these 4- legged creatures whether you like it or not! Kiss your newbie for us and remind her how lucky she is and you are to be together today.
Again, I am sorry for this sad ending.

You tried. A lot of people never would've done that. Imagine the number of people who would turn around and walk away from that kind of situation. You probably showed those animals more concern in a couple of hours than what they'd been shown their whole lives. No matter the outcome, you did the right thing.

I'm sorry that the dog and cat did not find good homes, as you had hoped.

Unfortunately, after being so badly neglected by their "owners," it's very possible that they both had untreated illnesses that rendered them unadoptable. Take comfort in knowing that in their last hours, they were comfortable, clean and loved.
