    Goodness! What a visit.

Dakky had a 104 temp! My poor baby boy. He had lost 1 lb in 5 weeks! YIKES. He checked out physically okay, even his pawsie. He is still holding it up, being ginger. The vet thought maybe he is achy with fever, and is reacting in that way. He got sub-cu fluids, an antib injection, and a 10 day supply of antibiotics. I can't say he is better this am, but, he isn't worse, either. I turned on the a/c this am when I left for work. I figured with the heat outside, coupled with the heat in Dakky....cooler was better. The vet commented that Dakky's feet were burning up! I hate myself for not going to the vets earlier.

Tenny has white bright new toofers. And, a fresh attitude to go with it. He was still pretty goofy last night when I picked him up, and I did alot of carrying him around. He is STILL very whiny this am, but, has full agility. He cannot stand Monte being within eyesight. Tenny was growling at Monte this am, while Tenny had food in his mouth. Monte was at least 5 feet away. Tenny is also very clingy with me now. Very. He doesn't seem to want anyone else around me.

Tex weighed in at 8.2, which is a 2 oz gain from last time. He had a full panel done, for hyperthyroid management. I will find out later today if his meds need adjusting.

Georgie was a loudmouth at the vets. She cried the whole time! She also got blood work done, as we are going to schedule a dental visit in the next 30 days. I will learn her blood results later as well.

Too many cats to the vets at once. I guess the good thing is more than 50% were wigged out at one time! Monte seemed to leave everyone be last night, fortunately. This am, however, he is back to badness.

I have not noticed any more vomit in the last 15 hours!

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about Dakky's fever! I sure hope the antibiotics do there thing. It's just the worst thing in the world when you can't get a straight answer on what's wrong with your babies.

Oh, let me get my sunglasses, Tenny is blinding me all the way over here!

Yeah for Tex! A gain of 2 oz is a real good thing!

And I'm sure Georgie's panel will be fine. Poor girl, crying the whole time.

Oh, and if Tenny needs some extra attention, you can send him here for the day. I'd love to have a cling-on kitty to help me work.

    Debbie,
Tenny would require that one hand be on him at all times! As soon as I lifted my hand, he would get up, and start whining, and headbutting me! Difficult to work when Tenny is in the mood.

Johanna, I'm sorry about Dakky. One never knows, do we, when it is the right time to haul them to the vets office? I'm glad you did it when you did. I don't envy you with the medicating part, as I find it almost impossible, even with the good suggestions, to medicate my two. I can't imagine 7 to be responsible for! My dogs are much easier, although more prone to vet visits, than my cats.

Jo, has your vet or doctor given you any words of warning about the litter boxes and scratches from the cats? Mimi became an indoor/outdoor kitty when I was pregnant with Helen because Daddy wasn't too interested in working on the litter box. Thankfully, she has done fine with that routine, and has a litterbox when she doesn't want to go outdoors, these days. My girl is almost 15 years old! I also seem to remember that they warned me about scratches. I'm just curious. Sometimes I think the cat/baby stuff is mostly "old wives tales", but I don't really know for sure.

I am so sorry especially for Dakky. Hope he's better soon.

The tooth cleaning is something I know well: 2 times Tigris and 3 times Filou- but the kisses taste better afterwards

All the best for Georgie and Tex as well

He he he...Logan, I tested positive for toxo about 4 years ago. I am a carrier, presumably with the necessary antibodies, already. Additionally, it isn't 'easy' to catch from the litterbox. Toxo needs between 24-48 hours to develop in the feces, and I scoop everyday- not that trace amounts wouldn't have been there still. I figured I contracted it from scratches, which I seem to incur more than anyone else I know, rather than the litter. Dakky slashed my belly this very am! Course, I am sure it was in his way. Did you know one is at risk for toxo from the garden, and unwashed produce, and undercooked meat?

I would fall over if someone cleaned the litterboxs for me. It is such a part of my routine. AND as gross as it sounds, it gives insight into the wellbeing of the herd. Not something I would want to give up easily. I do practice safe handling techniques..washing my hands well afterwards, still.

I'm sorry to here that poor Dakky is so sick! I always feel so sorry for them when they have a fever. They get so puny and lethargic. I'm sure the meds will fix him right up!
I can't imagine taking four to the vet at one time! I take one and tell him to give me meds for the rest!! You are a brave woman! I could see my vets face now if I took them all at once! I need to find one of those in-home vets!
I'm glad that everyone else is doing better about the vomiting and I'm sure the blood work will come out fine.
Keep us posted on poor Dakky and I hope all is well soon.

My large boycat Mau is a big barfer unless we keep him on his prescription food for sensitive stomachs. $40 for 8 pounds, and the other cats love it too! Oh well, cleaning the down comforter is $32 all by itself. Mau is always so embarrassed when he barfs, but we just kiss him and say that we understand that he just can't help it--better out than in when you feel sick you know! Lord, but I do love that cat!
