Oh no! Poor Max and poor you, Slick - how scarey!

I sure hope it's just a temporary pinched nerve or something like that that will heal up in a few days with the meds and not being able to jump.

Definite positive thoughts and prayers going out for the big guy - and for you, to keep you out of your funk for a long long time!

I just saw this and my heart goes out to you Slick! How scary to see him fine one minute and in such bad shape the next! My prayers are with you Max and I'm sure you will be back to your old self in no time. Hugs, and snuggles are coming along with the prayers.
    Keep us posted.

Poor Max- it just sounds like a slipped disc or something.

I am so sorry he is in pain- I hope the vet can help him soon!

Max, at our age one has to be careful with darting- better do a good warm-up first

Oh poor Max! It does sound as if something got out of joint. I hope he's not in pain and the vet can fix it soon!

Positive and healing thoughts to Max - and you!

Poor Max!!! I hope his little hips feel better soon. I know your heart must be breaking to witness him hurting like this. Has the anti-inflamatory pills kicked in or will they take some time? Poor little guy. Kisses to him and prayers that he gets better soon.

Thanks everyone. He's still a pretty wobbly on his back legs this morning and not walking around too much. Last night he tried to lift his back leg up to scratch his head but couldn't make it. Either it was to stiff or it hurt too much. Poor little guy will be confined all day today but I'll give him extra treats with his dinner tonight.

You may want to ask the white coats about getting Max some Cosequin. It works very well for stiff legged kitties. I sometimes do insulin shots for a very crabby cat when her owner is out of town, and a year ago Jesabelle was using the whole house as her litterpan. I watched the cat try to walk and it was so obvious she was a hurting unit! Very obese kitty, and Anne had litterpans that were too small for the cat to bend into. UTI was ruled out and if it kept up the way things were, Jesabelle was coming close to having her life ended! I suggested to Anne that the litterpans be much bigger, and Jesabelle was put on Cosequin daily and all has been problem free since! Now if only Anne didn't have to go on business trips! The cat is no picnic to give shots to!

Thanks Jan. I'll definitely look into that if he's no better by Wed. The med he starts tonight is called Anafen (5mg) and it's supposed to be an anti-inflamatory.

I hope that Max's problem is just temporary and that the medicine helps. Gentle pets for you, Max.

Here's another vote for the Cosequin if the other meds don't work. Last time I took Tubby in I asked the vet about him having arthritis in his back legs. She never gave me a definite yes or no as to whether he does have it, but she gave me some Cosequin. It takes awhile to work - not like antibiotics that you can see the results right away - but I do believe it works because Tubby is much more stable on his back legs. I also had suspicions because he didn't squat as far as he should when in the litter box so 80-90% of the pee ended up outside the box - ugh! But since the Cosequin, I noticed that he is squatting more like normal and 99% of the pee ends up in the box now. So I think it works.

I think it works so much I just picked up another 180 doses from teh vet on Saturday.

Good luck with poor Max. I sure hope he's better soon.
