Owning a Jack Russell, it’s nice to finally have this cleared up..

But I never knew there was such a difference between show Border Collies and working Border Collies.. you learn something new each day eh?

every breed AKC and other kennel clubs have recignized is like that, many of the true breeds dont even exist anymore because people did not realize what was going on and did not fight it. you cant even find a picture of a true beardie on the net, but you would never know it was a beardie because of what the show ring has done to them. a true beardie is taller, and has short wirey hair, they basicly look like wire coarted border collies, they have the same work style as a BC as well, calm smooth and useing the eye.

Yeah it's sad how they do that to the breeds... I'm REALLY hoping that doesn't happen to Border Collies... I also have a working Border.. He's pretty long-legged, slim, medium fur length (not as long as a show BC's fur), with a long nose and pricked ears...and VERY agile and fast (he outran an Afghan Hound once at the dog park ) ... as Borders should be..

I don't like the way the show BC's look with the stubby little nose and all that fluff that you rarely see a real working BC having. Plus they don't seem to have that intense look that most BC's have... which is a major characteristic of the breed...the Border Collie 'eye'...
