I'm part Micmac, a tribe that originally covered much of Maine and Quebec, and into northern NH as well, I believe. My French-Canadian great-great grandfather married a Micmac (daughter of the tribal chief). Not terribly uncommon an occurance, and it just adds to the mix of what makes me me! Dad's hair was coal black 'til it started turning silver, sort of the last physical evidence of the native blood in my gene pool.

I've always been fascinated by how Native Americans are so respectful to the animals, especially WOLVES.
You're the one sure thing I've found so you better stick around...

I also have great admiration for the Native Americans' respect for nature and all animals.
Once I read about the myth of Creation from some tribe in California (I wish I could find the book) It says that as God was walking about creating all animals, a dog was already with him, as a faithful companion from the very beginning.
Also, did you know that Navajos were employed during World War II to send encrypted messages in their native language so that could only be translated by other Navajo speaking folks? No enemy could read the messages. One more way Native Americans have contributed to this country.

"All men are created equal but none of them is equal to a dog." From the "Howard Huge" cartoon..
