He's also kinda fat too. He's already pushing almost 2 yrs old! Supposedly that's good for a mouse.

Because I want to, and I can. If you have ever read any of my wildlife rescue posts you would know I am very capable of taking care of a wild mouse. There is no difference between him and mice you find in a pet shop, besides the fact that he was born in the wild.

He was caught as a tiny baby by my cat Cheetah, and since he was injured and imprinted on humans there was no way he could be released. And there is no way in hell I would release him now, he would die. He has a better home here with me, where he can be loved and spoiled, not as some cats dinner. And there is no telling whether he is wild or not, I just figured that he was since he was caught by my cat. He has always been extremely tame, has never bit, never jumped etc. and acts nothing like a wild mouse. I have rehabbed many wild mice, with minor injuries that had never been handled that were able to be released back into the wild, but Fred was different.

AND, since he is a house mouse, he is considered domestic by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife. I have had him for almost two years, and he is very happy and healthy.

I didnt mean anything offensive by what I asked. I just was wondering why you had a wild mouse, no need to get all snappy about it Geeze. I think it is kinda neat, I would have done the same thing if I were you and my cat hurt a baby mouse. I have tryed to catch mice befor with no luck because my cat beet me to it. But it is cool. and he is cute.

Ok sorry! It's just that I have been asked that so many times and every time the person has something crappy to say about me, even though I saved his life.

He is the SWEETEST mouse ever!!!! If all mice were this sweet, I would have a ton of them. He is better than my rats!

Your hedgies are so darn cute, we only have brown ones in NZ, not many people keep them for pets, they say they harbour many diseases, is that true? I'm not being offensive , just curious.

The ones in NZ are a totally different species, so as far as diseases I have no idea about yours, but I know that the ones that are commonly kept in captivity do not harbor too many contagious diseases. In fact, I know of none except possibly ringworm. European hedgehogs are endangered, so the US banned their trade a long time ago. Many people in the US and Canada have hedgehogs as pets. They are fairly common now.

I know a few people in the UK who are actively involved in hedgie rescue.

Give me a chance lol. I answered that question on the first page..........you can go read it there.

But yes they can be pokey, but if they are tame and handled from a young age and all, they should lay their quills flat, so that they do not poke you.

Thanks for the info, I must say your species is much cutier than ours, no wonder people choose to keep them as pets, I am not sure what disease they harbour either, but I had heard there are some not so nice ones, OUR SPECIES anyhow. cheers and thanks again for educating me on something new.

Honestly I am not sure, have not seen a hedgie for a while, they are not near as pretty as yours, brown underneath, not white like your ones, let me know what you find out, coz I don't know that much myself about them, except they are all darn cute IMHO

Enjoy your new mouse, I think they make lovely pets, before I owned my cat's I had mice, a black one mandy, a black and white one mindy, and when they went to Rb my other cute black and white one Tiffany.
I enjoyed each and every one of them, and found my last one Tiffany was extra special, seemed more intelligent, so good luck and tell us all about your mouse when he/she arrives, P.S girls don't smell as much.
