Congrats! Some things aren't adding up, sounds like the former owner wasn't entirely truthful with you The boys will no doubt be better off in your care.

Good luck with the medicals - hope they are both healthy. Great names, by the way!

You might need to leave them together for a few more days at lesat to sort out what their relationship really is. If you separate them now, they'll need to be put together at a later stage anyway and they might get your other cats involved. Hmmm, not sure, please keep us all updated

    Mary,

You did a good thing by taking in your two boys. And I think Miss Meow was right when she said that the previous owner wasn't upfront with you. The best thing you can do for the boys right now is leave them be. Separating them at this point would be detrimental. They'd have to get reacquainted all over again. They're probably just scared and taking it out on each other. It's only natural.

Jen is also right in that not all littermates get along. Someone once told me that there is no such thing as "family reunions" with cats. I found that out the hard way when I brought Mollie Rose back to her birthplace in Vermont. I brought her over to her mama and thought they were going to make my arm into shredded wheat!! . I quickly learned my lesson.

Just give them time, patience and alot of love. Everyone will eventually come around.

One suggestion as far as their vaccinations is concerned...take them to a Petco, PetSmart or Pet Supplies Plus vaccination clinic for the vaccines. Vaccinate them for everything first time around. It'll be alot cheaper than a vet, although you'll still want to make sure they get a clean bill of health.

    Good luck honey!!

    thanks for all the helpeveryone!

Donna good idea about petco etc. I will look into that, thanks.

now just one more question (at least til I think of another one LOL)... when I do introduce them to the others, after they get a clean bill of health, any advice on that? I think they will go wild again, and it will be hard to put them into a room with 5 other cats, I don't want my cats hurt... so should I introduce them to one at a time, or what?
I know, I should have thought of that first but I did not want these cats to go to the humane society, or as one lady and I were talking about over the phone.. the death society.

also, I wonder if there is a chance these 2 are not littermates? they look alike, (long white fur ) but.. I guess I am just imagining that, since I don't believe the owner on anything she says.

she called yesterday while Iwas out, I was surprised by that, I thought oh she does care. but then she just wanted to know if she had left her bank card here since she couldn't find it.. hmm bank card...cats need shots..LOL anyway then I told her about them she didn't seem too interested.

    Mary,

What I've done in the past is stack baby gates in the door way so the cats can sniff and see each other, but are protected. I did that for about 2 weeks and then let them out supervised. I found baby gates at the Salvation Army so they were really cheap. If you have friends who have had little kids, they're likely to have them too. Another thing you can do is, once the baby gates are up, at mealtime, feed them near the door. This will let them have a pleasant experience.

That lady sounds like a real doozie. I'll bet dollars to donuts that they were NOT littermates.

Mary I think I may have an extra baby gate floating around my house, but it's one of those that you have to screw into the doorway. But if you need it let me know.

    Jack Casey update

one of my new cats, Jack Casey (Casey after moosmom's late Casey!) is really coming around, I just went in to the room again and he is a big lovebug!! I think he is ready to slowly be introduced to the other cats, AFTER his health checkup, there has been interest from BOTH sides of the door, they ( I think mostly Cassie,) is trying to get in to the bedroom, he hears her thumping against the door and runs over there! and he is starting to play with toys! one string toy he played with it with me and a toy mouse he played with on his own

as for Oscar, he has made himself comfy in THE LINING UNDER MY BOX SPRING! ah, well.. but I see now he is back at the window, looking into this room(den) and Emma and Louise are looking back!

    Hi!

I think you are definitely seeing some positive improvement. That's wonderful. I feel (like I stated earlier) that the two will eventually get along with eachother as well. Just try to give it more time!

I know it's hard not to get impatient!!!

    Oscar

another update, on Oscar, he is friendly too now! and he also lets me touch his face and head, no problem, there was a screech out of them both earlier, because Oscar decided he wanted attention at the same time Jack did and he jumped on the dresser by Jack, well that caused some problem, I dont know why, anyway then Oscar ran back under the bed.. tonight they are fine together. I was able to pet them both, and then give a few minutes to one then the other, switching back and forth. they head bump me when they want to tell me its their turn again! then I come back to the rest of the house with the other 5, and Cassie is needy, and the only one upset by the other cats in the house, is Patches... I think there will be a problem with him, he seems mad at me.

I will update more on Monday and will also have lots of pics on Monday, I promise. I won't be online tomorrow. I will also make vet appts for them on monday and will update on that when I know something...

I am pretty excited about this now, I'm glad I got them, I like this cat stuff! (most of the time LOL)

I'm sure that Patches will get along with them in time. I wouldn't worry too much. My Sunny was also very upset with me for bringing Cirrus home. Now Sunny and Cirrus are buddies.
