    black spot on tongue

Wow!! Thanks for telling me about your black lab with the black spot on his tongue too!!..He looks like such a puppy still with those big ears!! haha

Makes me wonder if Friend is mixed or not.. the vets think he is pure.. they really do..

What makes me wonder is his coat... it tends to be a little long and thin in places and his tail and hind quarters are "fringy".. Though many labs have different length coats.. He's not a long haired dog.. but it does have a bit of a wave to it since it's longer than most labs.. I have seen that before too though..

It's the fringy tail and hind quarters that make me think he is part golden perhaps...?

    who knows!

Friend, my Lab Chikoo has a little bit of fringe on his hindquarters and tail too. My female Lab, also a field type but not as leggy and thin as Chikoo, doesnt and has a true Labrador 'Otter' tail.

Otherwise tho, Chikoo's coat is short and not wavy (my Chessies are wavy!) and he has the silkiest coat of any Lab that I have ever come across. It is softer and silkier than most dogs period. He also sheds heavily tho :-( , more than my other dogs.

hmmm. Chickoo sounds alot like Friend.. But friend is a shedding MONSTER as well- however- his hair is very course and not silky.. shiny yes- but i've felt alot softer silkier coats... it's also not a very thick coat.. somelabs just have so many layers of hair.. But friend- not so much... normal I'd say..

I guess it is possible he could be full... but as our first vet said "perhpas jus tno the BEST of breeds" haha.. We're probably better off that way- since he seems to have his health still at 5 years old- no hip problems or weight gain at all. Doc says he's in real good shape.. so whatever he is- I guess it turned out for the best.
Very interesting about the fringe and birthmark they have in common..
    have a great day!
