Sending healing thoughts for Sky! That he gets over his infection- or whatever it is- soon.
Sunny sounds more normal. Tigris as well can eat to much too quickly and then just get rid of it.

Sorry for the delay. Sky wasn't seen until 1:30pm today and then I had to go get something to eat. Everyone fell in love with Sky. The vet tech said that she rarely sees cats like him because he's so social. He's the only cat that I have that jumps out of the carrier because he wants to see everyone. He also started purring and was so comfortable that he stretched out on the exam table. He acted like he was at home.

The vet also fell in love with him and she said that it sounds like he has allergies. Of course he was breathing normally at the vets and everything else checked out fine. She prescribed some antihistamine pills and I should know in a couple of days if they're helping him or not. If they don't help him then he may have some kind of a herpes virus that flares up every now and then. I also feel that he's allergic to something in my home but I don't know what it could be. I haven't brought anything new into in my home recently.

The vet tech even brough in another vet to meet Sky and he gave her lots of headbumpies. She was very envious that he wasn't one of her clients. On the way out two women in the waiting room saw Sky through the cat carrier and they told me how beautiful he was. Sky just spreads the love and is always loved by others. He's also my dad's favorite. If every cat had his personality I bet that more men would love cats.

Thanks again for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. I'll let you know how the allergy pills work for him.

What a wonderful appointment. I sure hope he continues to improve so quickly.

Are you SURE this is a CAT???

Ooooh I HATE when they do that! After making me worry and lose sleep, we get to the vet and SNAP! everything disappears and they are normal, healthy, not a care in the world.

    Hope the antihistamines will help.

Well I'm pretty sure it's allergies because even though I've given him 2 doses of his pills, he was still sneezing a little bit this morning and I can also hear him breathing. It sounds like he's snoring. I bet he's allergic to my very old ugly carpet.

I really want to get new carpet but I've been putting it off because of Starr's diarrhea problems and then I was also having peeing problems. Maybe sometime in 2008 if all continues to go well, I'll finally get it replaced. I'd love to get hard wood floors or some other kind of hard floors but I can't because I live on the 2nd floor in a condo complex and in our home owners rules I can't have any hard floors except in my kitchen and bathrooms.

kk - what is under the carpet? Could you at least remove it and get a large factory carpet section to use as an 'area rug' til you can get real carpeting done?

A factory second would probably cost as much as a few vet visits...might wanna think about that. I hope you come to some solution!

The floor under the carpet is a type of concrete. I forgot the specific term for it. I have this carpet running throughout my condo except in my 2 bathrooms and kitchen so removing a small portion wouldn't really be an option. The carpet was here when I moved in which was back in March 1989 so it's very old but it's a very good quality carpet because it has worn very well except for areas where my cats have clawed it to death.

OK...just one more idea then I will shut up!

How about renting a steam rug cleaner from the grocery store, and use VERY little soap (and rinse well). It might get enough allergic stuff out of the rug to help Sky. Maybe there is a 'green' soap you can use as well.

    Hope Sky feels better soon!
