    Shingles? Anyone ever had that?

I FOUND out today what it was. I had to go to the doctor's, because I couldn't take it anymore after a week of not knowing what the strange red bumps were on my arm & chest... I have shingles. Blah. It should go away within a week or two, because I have medication for that now. How much does that suck?!

Do I REALLY need vidocin for this? Because I was given a slip permission for it.. and is it really that painful???
You're the one sure thing I've found so you better stick around...

Yes is can be very painful if it's a fully developed case of shingles.
I've had several family member unfortunately to get shingles and it wasnt a walk in the park. Theirs involved legs and ankles.

Been there, lasted a full winter, oozing blisters. Painful as all get up. And if they tell you you can't get it twice, forget it, it's the 3rd time for me.

If you aren't hurting, I'd be surprised if it was really shingles. My husband had shingles last year and it was horrible, horrible pain and he ran a fever. It was awful and nothing made him more comfortable, even the pain meds.

    I hope you won't hurt.

My mom has had shingles twice and boy was she miserable. She was on pain meds for it as each case lasted about two weeks. A friend of mine had it once though and it went away pretty quick and was less annoying than chcken pox according to her. So I guess it can go either way. I heard somewhere if you get it young, it isn't as bad but Im sure there are exceptions.

Lets hope you have the non-painful variety!

My son had shingles when he was about 22,usually in young people it is not so bad, the pain i mean, he was one of the lucky ones, but it is the pain afterwards that can be left in the nerve endings i think that is the worst, but if you are lucky enough to get medication quickly, you should not have that problem, he is 25 now and has not had any problems, i do feel for you though, it is not nice at all, i wish you a speedy recovery, have you been under stress lately, apparently the doctor told my son that could be the cause of it, of course it is because of the chicken pox virus i believe that lies dormant, something along those lines, don't be quoting me, just going by memory, take care and i hope you are well again soon, do look after yourself really well ok.
