Uhhh I cant really think right now but I live about 15 minutes from bloomsburg University and we have a bunch of other colleges but they are about an hour away but are also much more popular then Bloom.... about 20 minutes from Centralia.... We have alot of historical things but I dont know exactly which ones because I never really paid much attention to them... If I think of more I will post it.

Karen, I have always wanted to go to Boston. Every year I think this is the year. There is so much I would love to see in your area.
Well, I wouldn't come now - unless you're a good swimmer - it is STILL raining, but when you make it up this way, let me know. Boston is a lovely city to visit, really, as it's very small, and things are close to each other. And I didn't even list things like the New England Aquarium, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Science Museum, etc!

That goes for anyone coming to Boston - we'd love to meet up with you!

Stop, you are killing me, lol. One of the reasons I haven't gotten there is because I really do not want to go by myself, and all of my friends would rather spend their vacations at the beach or on cruises or in Mexico (I guess they would rather go somewhere warm). There is nothing wrong with any of those things, it just means I can't get them to go to Boston with me.

Well, it's plenty warm in the summer here! And I didn't even mention the Atlantic Ocean - and whale watching! Stellwagen Bank is a national Marine Sanctuary just 25 miles east of Boston, their website is http://stellwagen.noaa.gov/

I live near the Daniel Boone Homestead. Never been there and it is only 15 minutes away.

I lived in Puxsutawney, where groundhog Phil lives. Talk about a strange place - they dedicate their lives to that groundhog and one day a year

Reading as a town was originally hunting grounds for William Penn and his wealthy friends. The shopping center across the street has a historical marker sign telling us it was the site of a hotel owned by him.

Famous colleges? Small colleges mainly with a satellite campus of Penn State.

Interesting thread! Well I live about an hour from Manchester so there's a lot of sights there, such as the Manchester eye, Old Trafford (woo!), lots of museums and Manchester Uni. More 'natural' sites nearby are the Forest of Bowland and Fountains Abbey, and also in Ribchester which is just a 1/2 hour away there are plenty of Roman ruins!
