Thread: Puddy's gotta go back to the vet NOW!

  1. #16
I haven't heard anything yet this morning but Dr. Lee is good about calling, so I'll give it a little while. He'll prob. give her valium for stress as he did before. She's so good until she's messed with; then her evil twin comes out. But considering that he told me that her kidney actually burst, I'd say she's doing pretty well. As soon as I hear something, I'll post.

    Thanx again, friends.

    Blessings,
    Mary

    I'm bringing Puddy home. Again.

Dr. Lee just called me cuz he says they're crazy busy and he wanted to answer my questions so that I didn't have to make an appt. w/him. Here's the scoop: Puddy is anemic, she has cystitis and her creatinine level is 5.something. He says that level isn't "bad" per se but he'd like it to be lower because she's operating on only one kidney. He hopes that this kidney isn't going to give out. BUT he said that all in all he's pleased w/how well she's doing. She goes back on subQ's every day again until we see how she's doing. And she has to take Levaquin (sp?), which is a powerful antibiotic and pain meds. If she remains too anemic, he'll start her on shots. Sigh. Poor little girl. I don't want to keep pumping her full of meds and poking her w/needles. But as long as I see she's Puddy, I'll do it. If I see she's suffering or just plain miserable, I'll have to help her in another way. But I'm going to keep a positive attitude and be glad that she can come home. We'll just take it on a day to day basis.

I'm off to go get her. I'll post when I get home and let you all know how she is.

    Blessings,
    Mary

    Just brought Puddy home

She stood on all fours the entire drive home, as if to say "Mess w/me. Go ahead." She looked like such a little outlaw. LOL She scampered out of the carrier as soon as I brought her in the house and she ran over to the fountain and she's still drinking from it yet. The antibiotic is zenaquin; I was wrong about the name before. And she's still on pain meds and an appetite stimulant. But at least I know why she wasn't peeing. I feared that the other kidney was shutting down but she has cystitis, so we'll get that cleared up. She's in good spirits and I can tell she's glad to be home. I know I'm sure glad to have her. We'll be snug and warm tonight; it's sleet out there now and I'm going to bed early tonight w/my Pudster and the fur posse.

Thanx for being there, everyone. It means a lot.

    Blessings,
    Mary

If I had gone through nephritis, peritonitis, cystitis, (and a bunch of other "itis's") and major surgery, I sure wouldn't be standing all the drive home and running as soon as I got home. That just tells you what a strong little girl Puddy is. I watch her in amazement and I take lessons in courage and strength. She's my heroine. I absolutely adore this cat. Of course, I love all my cats but Puddy is special and I knew that from the moment I first laid eyes on her at 5 weeks, when I picked her up w/that metal cast on her leg and she hissed at me. I said "Oh, I gotta have this one." That was nearly 13 years ago, after many warnings that she may not live to be a year old. HA! Puddy showed us all. I love my Puddy. And I love all of you for being such a source of comfort and understanding. (Can you tell I'm happy? LOL)

    Blessings,
    Mary

LOL Now that's a different story!

She's doing great this morning. She slept well, sometimes w/me, sometimes in her room. She was eating this morning when I got up and she used the litterbox last night. So all is well. Now, if we can just keep it that way. After all, it is the weekend and we all know that it's programmed into a cat's DNA that, if they're going to get sick, to do it on a Friday night.

    Blessings,
    Mary
