So sorry to hear this . . . I can remember loosing pets as a child and how hard it was. It really is heartbreaking & I pray that she will get through this.

Just remind her that her baby Ted is happier & healthier at the RB Bridge.

    Prayers & Hugs . . .

Thank you all so very much.
Thank you for the suggestion of telling her the Rainbow Bridge story, I will use the story to help her if I can. By the way, I saw a rainbow on the way home with her and pointed it out, I may try and start from that.

For those of you that don't know, Ted, and Bella, his kitty sister, are outdoor/indoor cats. Ted hasn't been going outside for all that long and was always in and out, mostly in. Last night when he didn't come in after numerous call and searches they knew something could be wrong. When my son found Ted this morning he looked so normal that at first he thought he was sleeping. Because there wasn't a sign of injury the first thought was of poisoning. However the vet was of the opinion that Ted had been hit by something. Not hard enough to break bones or skin, hence no outward sign of injury, but enough to cause internal injury and bleeding. She said that even if he had been found immediately and taken in it was doubtful he would have pulled through.

Thank you all once again, you have helped so much.

Vcat and Debbie, thank you for remembering Teds kitten pics.

  7. Chris...I didn't realize he was just a baby! "sniff" I see a love of "black and whites" runs in the family.

    I am so sorry....

Ted, Danni and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Danni might be too young, but http://www.petloss.com/ has a beautiful candle ceremony each Monday to honor our babies. They also have a list of suggested reading: http://www.petloss.com/amazon/booklist.htm Many of them are children's books. One of them might help her know that it is okay to talk about Ted and to come to accept his passing.

Please keep us posted about how she's doing.
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.

I'm so sorry. This will be a difficult task. I hope your love and comfort will help your granddaughter through this time.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers

I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you. I've posted a comment in Ted's album. What a sweet he was.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
