And David I would not expect your loyalty if it were the Kiwis and the Americans up against each other, I know who I will be backing GO KIWI, GO KIWI., now if it is a scot and a Kiwi, then I have a bit of difficulty, but I think I would still have to back the Kiwis, since they have been good enough to let me live here for over 46 years.
Carole, I had a test of my loyality this morning in women's basketball. I started to root for the good ole U.S.A. Sorry about that!

    aww

everytime I watch or hear about olympics, I get sad! so it tells you I .love. to watch olympics since the one I almost went! (as a swimmer in sydeny). I would have been so proud being an olympican if I ever knew about the sponsors! so..*shucks*.. after I couldn't make it to the olympics, (then my stoopid shoulder injury from swimming in a river for six straight hours, been a year now)- I've always wanted to watch olympics to feel united!

I like to watch all sports, especially swimming, gymnastics, skating and all other sports that are rarely seen during the time of the year!

David P..hope you were alert enough (ya never know what's in those "drips") to watch the Olympics. I love the swimming since I can't very well, and get out of breath just watching!

The synhronized diving blew my mind..since I do a great bellyflop!
I love the comraderie and sportsmanship. I've done a lot of travelling and never had any problems, met great people, so I hope the games remain fair and peaceful. Pity there's such turmoil in the world, tsk, tsk.

I've had it on all day (expect of course during pre-season football!) I like the sumer games much more then the winter..course I play or used to play softball, soccer and volleyball. I don't usually watch boxing, but there is a boxer from Toledo, so I may even have to watch that!

Great stuff for insomniacs like me Richard, look out for two good looking sisters in the rowing, they come from my city.

I think the italians creamed us in the Basketball, and what about the swimming , south africa winning over Aussie and you guys, that takes some doing, very strong contenders, but I am sure they will both make a great comeback in the water, the Americans and the Aussie's always do so well.

I just checked out that website Kirsten posted - I never knew sports like judo, table tennis, badminton and sailing were Olympics sports! What's handball? Personally I loooove watching gymnastics. I wish I was that skinny!!!

I've decided that the worst part of being in a very different time zone from where the Olympics take place is that the news of the day's results travels very quickly due to the internet! I didn't want to know about the results of the big swim event between Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps until I watched tonight, but I'll be darned if it wasn't glaring me in the face on the MSN homepage a little while ago!!!!

Team handball isn't the bounce off the wall kind of ball!

It's a across between hockey and basketball.

It's two teams that play on a court with two nets as the goals.
The object is to advance the ball by running or passing it up court.

I have been watching the swimming this morning, one of my favourite events, China is doing very well in the pool, as is USA and Aussie not as good as usual, mind you I have only seen a few races, I don't think NZ is very strong in this department, can't see any medal prospects this year there.

I was mistaken Italy did not actually cream us in the Basketball, the final score was very close, but USA you creamed us for sure, that would have been the game you watched David.

I can't wait for the cycling, not the road race, but the other, I find this very exciting, probably the most exciting event for me to watch.

Yeah Kirsten, gold for your country , well done, which event was that in,? I missed it.

Lizzielou, watch out for NZ in the sailing, we do quite well here, and the rowing, fingers crossed.

Grrrr .... I'd LOVE to watch the Olympics, however stupid NBC cut their local broadcasting in San Francisco and all I get is snow on Channel 11. I live in a very old Victorian with no cable access. The local NBC people don't seem to think a large metropolitan area like San Francisco is important enough and have done nothing to help us get better reception. I tried watching the other night -- very snowy bicycling .... but I'll keep trying. Some nights it's not too bad.

The first 6 channels of our cable really suck and, of course, channel 4 is where all the action is...I took a look at the hookup from the pole and fixed it!!!

For one day....I recently found out that our cable company installed new wires EXCEPT the cables into the houses....

Wait until they find out that I am going to satellite....

    Carole,

Isn't velodrome racing a kick in the head???
I watched some of the rowing on friday and saturday night...names please???

I wouldn't mind taking home an Olympic athlete.....

    Logan,
I turn off all the TV and radio, It's just like the World Cup.....I was up at 3:30 a.m. watching soccer..Oops! FOOTBALL......

Ah yes Richard that was the name I was looking for, I really find the velodrome cycling sooo....exciting, especially if our guy's are in it, I remember when we had the commonwealth games here in auckland, I just about screamed the house down.

Here are some of our people to look out for Richard, twin sisters from my city, Caroline and Georgina Evers-swindell,( our medal hopefuls) single sculler Sonia Waddell, also from my City, and women's pair Juliette Haigh and Nicky Coles. look out for Barbara Kendall in the sailing, she has won us medals before.
