Alot of people dont know this but just because people dont reply to your thread doesnt mean they dont read them!! Sometimes, I dont reply to peoples threads but I have made the commitment that when I open a thread , I do my best too read the whole thing! So please dont leave!

There are a lot of people on here who don't have a "buddy". Of course the people who have been here for years are going to know more people than people like me who have only been here a few months. I just try to keep posting, starting threads, even tho i don't usually get a lot of replies. I don't get PMed much at all, and there's no one I chat with on AIM or anything. But I hang out because I like reading and seeing pics of other people's pets, and it's one of the only places I've found with people who understand my obsession with my animals! So don't leave because you don't feel loved or liked or anything. I find the more you post, the better people get to know you. Plus, you can always PM someone with similar interests and be like, HEy! Just thought I'd say hi... and start a friendship that way.

I heard this in a film recently.....and, I took it to heart and have since applied it to life. Maybe it will help you see a different way to look at things. You aren't who loves you, but, who you love. It sure made me feel a lot better. And, I don't get a ton of replies either. I swear, sometimes it seems like the thread ends as soon as I say something. It bothers me a little sometimes, but, it's not to be taken personally. I'm sorry to see you leave, I like your artwork.

    Thanks, Dogz!

I am sorry I just now saw this. I wasn't on a lot for about a week and a half because I was doctoring both myself and Flair. So, I hope you'll keep coming here. I've always admired your talent for drawing and your pics. Most of the time, I don't get a lot of replies either so I know how you feel. But that shouldn't keep you away from here. Isolating yourself even more will not make you feel any better. Might make you feel worse. I hope you get to see this.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I don't think I've ever seen any of your posts- I'm on the cat side. I've started threads only a very few times and got only one or two responses but I don't take it personal! It just means no one had anything to say! There are plenty of threads i do respond to and when I see a post that strikes a personal note in me, I pm them! I don't expect to get a response, just letting them know they struck me somehow! I'm not here looking for friends though. I have friends. This is a computer. Pet talk is a great resource for getting and recieving advise on pets, sharing funny pet stories, and sharing personal info- when one chooses! (Political stances, etc). I'm happy just to watch kitty videos and pictures! Why would you want more than to talk about pets on a website called pettalk? I mean, why would you feel you should have made a personal friend on this website!? I haven't (well there is one person that i pm now and then to ask her how she is doing because we have the same stance on cat care)! I have a friend that I turned on to this website so she's around but I didn't make friends with her through pet talk.

I don't personally see anything wrong with making friends online. I say if you can make friends, do so, it shouldn't matter where the friendship started. I do think, however, basing self worth on numbers of replies is self destructive. I read lots of posts, and, only reply to a few. It doesn't mean I don't like what the others say or anything, just don't have much to say in regards to the topic being discussed. But, I do have a couple of people here that I would consider friends, even if I met them through pet talk. Anyway, just my two cents.

    Thanks, Dogz!

My BEST friends come from Pet Talk.
I have been here for a while, I believe this is my 3rd or 4th year here (I can't remember when I first signed up) and have made MANY friends and a few "enemies".

I see nothing wrong with making friends on the internet, but you shouldn't feel bad if you don't.

Guster Girl- But if no one EVER replies to your threads you do begin to wonder weither you are really wanted here or not.

heinz57_79 - I don't think it really matters how long you've been here, I've been here for 2 years and still don't have any friends

Dear Audrey - please stay. I see you started this thread on the 7th June and I've only just seen it! I think a lot of threads disappear so quickly because of the speed of new threads being added! (Did that make sense?!)
I think the 'thing' about having friends on the board is a very new happening - I honestly think of everyone here as my friends. No matter what our ages or gender we have one thing in common - our love of animals. This is why we joined in the first place.
I often don't reply to a thread because what I was going to say has already been said by someone else - and nine times out of ten much more elequently (sp?).
I've fogotten how many times my reply to a thread has killed it stone dead I often think 'Oh yes another one hits the dust!' But hey that's not important - the fact is we've shared something with each other - maybe it was just a ' ' or a ' '.
How often have we laughed and yes cried together and shared stuff here we wouldn't even tell people in the 'real world'?
Mainly because they just think we're a cat (dog, horse, rabbit, lizard etc etc etc) nut!! People here care about each other - look at the threads when someone is ill - but more we adore our pets and this is where we come to discuss, query, laugh and shed the tears.
If you feel you have to go - so be it. You'll be missed because a much loved member of our 'family' isn't here - reconsider please and stay amongst 'friends' who love you.

I know I've personally replied to her threads before. I reply to hers as much as anyone else's. And, I don't know how often others do, but, I know I've seen threads she's started that had replies. So, it wasn't that people NEVER responded, just apparently not enough.

    Thanks, Dogz!

I think a lot of us have felt this way at one point or another. But honestly, don't decide whether to stay or leave on the # of replies that you get.

If you want to stay, then just read and enjoy pictures, and comment on other people's threads. And if you decide that you don't enjoy it around here anymore, then by all means, find another website or hobby that will spark your interest.

In my opinion, the more pictures you post, the more people recognize "who" you are, and the more replies you get. So post more, not less, to get more recognition.
