8 is actually an average size, my feet technically are 8 1/2 lengthwise, but my feet are screwy, shapewise. I have very narrow heels, wide feet in front, and wear orthotics in my shoes so my feet don't hurt, so I end up needing a 9 or 10 to fit the width of my foot in front, and the orthotics in the back. I have never liked shoe-shopping - small wonder that!

My sister, who is only almost 5' 4" has bigger feet - she's always worn at least a 10!
