We always use the one on the back of the Tollhouse package.
If you bake them for less time, they'll turn out softer.

Do you use a baking stone or a cookie sheet? It may be that your oven runs hot too. Do you have an oven thermometer?
Could you give me the recipe, please? We use a cookie sheet. And when we bake, we always set the oven for about 15 degrees less than the recipe said because we have a Maytag Gemini and it does go hotter than other ovens. (supposedly lol)
