"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle

"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien

There's no spell check as part of this software, what some people do is type it in in Word, spell check it there, then copy and paste it into the "post" box here.

I try to do that with every post. It does allow odd words and phrases, though.

It's hard for people sometimes, because they are so used to using slang in e-mails and AIM etc. But really, I'm bad for it, and I know I have to stop. Because it starts to affect your typing skills for other things also. Term papers, online job applactions etc. Thanks for bringing this up!

Thank you for this gentle reminder. Some days I stare at the screen and try to figure out what exactly the person is trying to say. The spell check website is terrific! Thanks for posting that link. There are also free web browser "plug ins" that can help with spell checking in a pinch, although the idea of using Word is also a good one. Anyway, thanks again for the good tip. It's good practice for the "real" world!

Thanks for that. I agree. Sometimes it can get confusing for those who don't understand us. It's ok for Instant Messaging, but that's something different.

Oh... oops, sorry, I know, I'm doing that sometimes ("pix" for example or "LOL")

I'll try to be better from now on!

Kirsten, I'm not sure, but I don't think Karen would include"pics", as I believe everyone know what that means.

Still, there are a few abbrevations I don't know, but mostly I can understand the meaning anyway - or guess the meaning.

However, it's always a good idea to make an effort, concerning spelling. The REAL world demand it!

When I first joined, I couldn't understand much of what Cinder & Smoke wrote, but I do now, and I think it's very entertaining!

I actually find it VERY difficult to read, even after all the time I've been here, and often skip it because of that

I agree with Karen that the important thing is you TRY your hardest to use proper spelling/grammar/etc. Of course there will be mistakes, but if you try, I don't think anyone can complain.

I think it is only common courtesy that you write legibly on a public forum. Chat programs like AIM and ICQ are a different story though!

Aw Nomilynn, you're missing a lot of fun. Cinder & Smoke
write phonetically & actually I find it very easy to read. I can
really imagine them talking that way.
