Thread: Male or Female? Who's sweeter?

  1. #16
I love all kitties, but I personally believe that males are more affectionate from my experience.

Kim, I love my signature! Thanks!

Males, definately! I love Ally, but she can be a b*tch.

Isn't it wonderful how cats can win friends and influence people without ever reading a book.

    Hi Kathy:

I have owned seven cats since 1989. Some of them are dead. Is your cat a domestic? In domestics, I think the sex does not matter.

I have had three Siamese. One is still living. In this breed, my husband agrees with me that the female has the better personality.

my cats are domestic tabbies. all boys and sooo sweet. as i said, my girl was difficult with them, loved me but distant, and never integrated with the boys.

i really think it's just luck of the draw but if i think the chances are better that a cat will be sweet if you go with a male but all are treats!!

Our male, Samson, is much more of a "snuggle-bunny" than the girls are. Saphirah and Chloe snuggle on their own terms.

This is simple for me to answer, FEMALE, my Lexie is the sweetest, gentle natured lil cat I have ever known, whereas Ash, he is a cat to be reckoned with and be very careful how you touch, pet or handle him, he is kinda scarey sometimes, even my 22 yr old son who adores Ash, is scared of him, I guess you could say Ash gets RESPECT, and lexie just gets cuddled and snuggled to bits lol.
    Furangels only lent.

When I was thinking about getting a cat I was told to get a male b/c they are more lovey and affectionate. But since I was looking at calicos that wasn't going to happen.
But then I decided to take Kylie out of a bad situation and haven't looked back.
She is such a sweet little spirit. She isn't overly lovey, but is definatley snuggly when I am watching TV or lying in bed. I just love her little soul.
Now my friend has Kylie's sister Tome, and she is the queen of *itchy! They have the exact opposite personalities. And they have just acquired another kitty that is a boy and he is laid back, and lovey and very affectionate.
So even tho Kylie is my first cat, I have to go with the 'luck of the draw'???

My female Tibby is much sweeter than my male Corkscrew.

Interesting thread, and I've so enjoyed reading all the input!

I've got 4 females and 2 males currently, and I'd have to go with the boys as being more easy-going. The girls are prone to those "Miss snippy-pants cattitude Diva" moods, whereas the guys are more even-tempered, with fewer emotional fluctuations.

I wonder if this could depend upon the gender of the guardian versus cat . . . maybe a male guardian with both male and female cats would say the females are more docile toward him??!

Hmmm. good question. But that would be assigning a little more thought to their process than I think they're capable of but who am I to say.

I just think there's something in the male cat that just tends to be more easy going than the female. It makes me wonder about humans and if, without the socializing process everyone goes thru, maybe men would be the sweeter sex? But that's way to impossible to even try to figure out.

I'm thinking of setting up another thread about cats eating with their paws. I assume it might be quite common and a very fun discussion. I hae 2 brothers that do it.

well, so far, mostly my males have been more social towards me, but I do have a female now who is kinda the pet me or else type. Of the other 2 female kittens, one is tolerating of me, the other stays as far away from people as possible unless there is food involved.
Catch me if you can, Love me if you dare.
